This just may be my worst buyers regreat ever. I honestly figured I could compare cities but just to get a simple layer of a city is extra, pass on this app quickly
Excellent weather app. Excellent forecasts. Great fun with the various characterizations, insults, politics etc!!! All that said I must violate my New Years vow and be a bit of a grinch. It is unacceptable to me that NOTIFICATIONS are unavailable unless you subscribe to at least Tier 2. If you must pay for additional services I can deal with that, but notifications are a natural part of virtually every Mac app! To my mind the Developer needs to reconsider this. Frankly, maybe the whole Tier 2 should be reconsidered. No matter... I do love this app.
Great fun app, I pay for the tier 2 and love it on my iPhone. Just wish they would fix the bugs on the MacOS version. Seems to freeze up when I try to sync to the options from my iPhone. Freezes when trying to not show the icon. And the Temp in the menu bar doesn't remember where I put it. Also, a widget would be awesome with Big Sur. Here's hoping they fix some of the bugs and add a widget or will not resub. ((on a M1 Macbook Air))
Seems reasonable that the app could take cues from the assigned location rather than condstant reminders that WiFi is required for location.
I LOVE Carrot Weather. I have the Tier 3 Premium and have it on all of my various iDevies as well as my MacBook Pro. I love the widget on the iPhone and would love to have an actual widget for MacOS so I can stop using that horrible Mac Weather version.
Great app at tider 3! Love the international wx. My son who lives in Sarajevo and Vicenza says that the fcsts are spot on as they are here in the HIgh Desert of Central Oregon. Five Stars. The personality is a big plus but not the reason for gettging the app. The reason is the accurac y with FORECA setting. I can't vouch for the others. It also allows me to set a local PWS that I enjoy as well. Five Stars s/o a doubt!!!!!
This has one of the strangest humor for any app to be honest and I love it. There are humor settings that you can change if it's too dark for your tastes. Trust me when I say it can get dark and mouthy. It has one of the most accurate forecasts of any weather app. Some features are going to be locked behind a monthly or yearly paywall. I have the Tier 3 subscription that renews yearly and I think it's worth it for the features you do get. The iOS apps are also worth getting especially if you own an Apple Watch. I have only two complaints. One being the menubar icon only shows if the app is open. You close it down and the menubar icon goes with it. There was a app called Meteorologist where the menubar icon could be working without the app being completely open. The second one being where are the widgets that the iOS versions now have? Granted, they can only be used in the Notification Center but it would still be a useful thing to have. Overall, this is the king of the weather apps and I recommend it.
Seems silly, but it's beginning to bother me that Carrot doesn't have a roundrect icon yet. Seems pretty easy, given that Carrot is an iOS app. Also, an update supporting the new Mac idiom in Big Sur would also be more than welcome.
I've used this for a long time across several devices but the menubar version of this on Mac doesn't handle the transition between multiple monitors and portable use. The menubar dropdown no longer appears if switching between the two. Surely, the most powerful weather machine on the planet can do better?
This is a pretty great weather app. The only real problem is trying to figure out how to get the app's menu bar to display a list of our favorite locations. It's quite a process that we finally figured out. We have to open up the main window, then we have to type in a location in the search bar and hit return, then we have to go back to the search bar and look for the location, then we have to right-click on the location and choose "Favorite". Too many steps, and extremely hidden! It took us several hours to figure this out.
