Tours work offline, using free GPS signal and location services, so no data roaming, network, or WiFi is required while touring. Visit www.gypsyguide.com for route maps, sample audio, tips and advice and what to know before you go. It’s Just Like Having a Tour Guide in Your Car™ WHAT TO EXPECT: With 2 Parks to visit and a long list of things to do, you’ll appreciate our recommendations for how to prioritize your time best when exploring Arches & Canyonlands National Parks. Arches National Park alone has over 2,000 arches throughout the park. We’ll lead you to the most popular ones like Delicate Arch, Double Arch and Landscape Arch. And others such as Skyline Arch and Devils Garden area if you have more time. We’ll rehash a quick geology lesson, so you understand and appreciate the multiple geological forces at work required to create these amazing features. But the tour is not all about rocks, there are stories about some unique characters who were drawn here and more about the delicate ecosystem that sustains a surprising amount of diversity. The contrast in scenery between Arches to Canyonlands couldn’t be more dramatic. As we drive along the Grand View Point Road in the Island in the Sky District, there are a number of viewpoints that peer down into canyons eroded by the Colorado and Green Rivers. Plan to arrive early with coffee if you want to capture the Mesa Arch sunrise image with other eager photographers, or enjoy a late sundowner. Then there’s the conflicting theories to ponder at Upheaval Dome, or you can just enjoy and laugh at its nickname – Utah’s “belly button”. The Museum of Moab is the best location to learn more about local Puebloan people, but a hike on the Aztec Butte Trail will take you to view their ancestral structures called granaries. Both tours begin and end on the drive to and from Moab. Note: The tour does not include the short Needles section of Canyonlands which is located 60 miles of Moab (the opposite way). WHAT YOU’LL SEE: Some of the highlights along the route include; • Delicate Arch • Three Gossips • Windows • Landscape Arch • Balanced Rock • Skyline Arch • Grand View Point • Mesa Arch • Candlestick Tower • Aztec Butte • Upheaval Dome • Whale Rock BATTERY USAGE: ++ Continued use of GPS/Location Services in the background increases battery usage. We strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. Avoid using a direct connection to the USB port of a rental vehicle. IPADS: ** iPad models must include a GPS chip. Please note that Apple only install these on the iPad Wifi + Cellular models. Wifi only iPad models have limited location service capabilities and are unable to play commentary automatically. DOWNLOADING: The apps are larger in size in order to work offline. You must be on wifi to download as the store may block the download over cellular networks. We purchased a combo Gypsy Guide for Arches and Canyonlands National Parks. It was like having a friend in the car with you who was super knowledgeable as well as entertaining! It’s amazing how the GPS coordinates with you throughout the tour(s). Words cannot convey how much we appreciated and enjoyed the tour(s). We will definitely use Gypsy Guide if possible for our tours from now on!
Used this in Maine New Hampture and Vermont last year and loved it both times
Get it!! That is my advice. Third time buying gypsy tour app and will keep doing to every where I go in case they have available. My wish is that they keep doing it all over the world. You get a personal guide that will give you detailed information of the area and telling you the must stops and extra stuff that would be worth seeing and you can make a decision if you want to stop or not. I just love it so much!!!
This is the third Gypsy guide I have bought and it was just as informative as the rest. I can’t wait to use another guide.
We used this guide for both Arches and Caynonlands and it was super helpful in quickly determining our plan to explore the parks each day we were there. If you want to get right to what to see and when to see it while you are exploring, this one is well worth the $$$.
Went to Arches National Park and loved having this going as we drove to each monument.
This tour was absolutely amazing, being able to tell us what we’re seeing and where to turn or go as were traveling through the park was extremely helpful and we will definitely use this program again. I highly recommend anyone traveling to national parks to use this program.
We were able to see both Arches and Canyonlands in a day. About 9.5 hrs and we got everything in except the 2 mi or longer hikes. Bob (we called him Bob because he never gave his name) was a great guide!
This is an absolute MUST for exploring arches and Canyonlands National Park! We learned so many things that we would have missed otherwise. HIGHLY recommend! I will be using it in further travel for sure.
We started with Yellowstone and Grand Tetons app two years ago. When planning our trip to the Southwest made sure we got all the apps, such an enhancement to our experience. We loved the history and anecdotes along the way, just like a trusted friend in the car along with us on an amazing trip!
