EXPLORE LIKE A LOCAL It’s just like having a local friend to show you around. And that friend just happens to be a professional tour guide. GREAT VALUE The same information you would get on a bus tour or from a guide book, for just a fraction of the price. And you control the itinerary and schedule. WORKS OFFLINE No data, cellular or even wireless network connection needed while touring. Download over Wi-Fi before you tour. Anyone can use them with no need for roaming data – even visiting from another country. DRIVING TOUR ROUTE The tour includes the most popular sightseeing stops and many more: 1) Old Faithful and the incredible Geyser Basin Areas 2) The Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone Area 3) Mammoth Hot Springs 4) West Thumb and the Lake area 5) Tower Fall and Roosevelt area 6) Many wildlife spotting opportunities You can join the tour from any of the 5 park entrances or anywhere along the route. Whichever entrance you use, commentary will begin 10-15 minutes before you reach the Grand Loop Drive - the main road that circles the park. NOTES Download the app on Wi-Fi from your network at home or use any free Wi-Fi network. Because the app is filled with audio commentary and maps, its larger than "normal" apps. Many phone/data networks may block the download because of size - so its important to download over a Wi-Fi network. ++ Continued use of GPS running in the background increases battery usage - we strongly recommend taking a cigarette style (DC outlet) car charger. This is much better than simply plugging into the USB port in a vehicle. ** iPad users - please note that WiFi-only iPads will not activate the commentary automatically. Any iPhone or network-capable iPad (WiFi + Cellular - whether you have a network connection or not) will work just fine. This app stole the show for our tour of Yellowstone. For under $10 we were able to have a tour guide for the entire park. Using this app in the park is the best decision we made the entire trip. Can recommend it enough.
You can read all you want about Yellowstone, but traveling with your personal guide with accurate directions was more than I expected. The guide is well done and full of geological information. Best of all was the ability to hear it again as I traveled! Well done and worth every penny!
We all loved this app and the narrator. He gave a lot of relevant info and was able to tell us where to stop way ahead of time. Would use it again for other tours!
If you’re planning to do your own driving in Yellowstone National Park, this is an app you most definitely will need. The narrator points out all the most popular sites and also many little known sites worth visiting, which you might miss without this app. The narration also includes history, geology, animal life, and other fun facts along the way. In order for the app to work properly, you must grant it access to your phone’s gps, but it’s worth it. The narration is keyed to your location in the park. I’m glad I used this app, and I highly recommend it.
Bought this guide on the recommendation of another traveler to Yellowstone. The guide is informative and thorough. The guide uses gps to ascertain your location and you are not only educated on pertinent issues, but also out of the way stops are recommended with descriptions. It’s a private guided tour. We liked it so much we bought one for the Tetons as well.
Wow - My husband and I were truly impressed and think this might be the best $6.99 we’ve ever spent! I’d suggest to have other language options since I am recommending this app to all my friends and some of them don’t speak English. Would truly be perfect if there are other language options ( Mandarin, Japanese, etc.)
I stumbled upon this Ap right before my first trip to Yellowstone today. I am amazed at all it added to my trip. The knowledge and guidance were invaluable!!! Will be using This Ap again for other trips.
I am a planner and spent time trying to plan a day at Yellowstone. Thankfully a friend recommended this app. There is NO cell service in the park. This app took all the stress away and we saw more than we would have ever seen without it. Just downloaded the guide for Glacier later this week.
The narration is so good, never making us feel bad if I drove by a must see site. But at the same time giving us a dopamine hit on the less frequent stop. Even with backtracking the repetition didn't get old just helped us remember some of the interesting facts-I found there were variations based on which direction we traveled. 2 minor suggestions would be a larger play pause button to make it easier while driving, and access to the whole map of narration at least while we were in the park. During our trip there were 2 areas that we could not access due to a hazmat spill of fuel and road work. I found it difficult to move the map and play the prompts. We will look for other tours
Along with the great commentary, the tour explains upcoming turnoffs and warns you when to turn. Eliminates guessing about your driving.
