This app works well, although it will eat your battery, so you need a constant power feed. Lately, the developers decided to raise the price of subscription by 25% over last year! Not sure how they justify that other than some greedy shareholders want more. But very unfair, and frankly not worth the price of admission.
Great app for new and experienced riders.
The REVER app has been around for a while but they keep improving it. Lots of options for ADV riders to chart, route, and record and share rides. -Dave on R1200GS.
Not only does this app drain my battery in two hours (bike rentals don’t have plugs) it refuses to update to current location and update gps. It forces you to go back to the starting point. I tried this app in San Diego ONCE and want the remaining 11 months of my money back. NOW.
I started using this app about 6 -12 months ago only because the other app I was using (best of them all) stopped sending updates. And then I lost the phone with that particular app on it as it flew off my motorcycle as I was riding one day. So after using this app here’s the real deal about it. Good stuff : App is semi easy to work with. Can add routes quickly in pro version and it can do the work for you when routing you to a destination (pro version costs extra but is a good feature especially if your a newbie to planning routes), After planning a route you can save it, edit or ride it right away. Has both on road and off road gps capabilities. Has features of using different map styles to choose from including butler maps. Somewhat user friendly if you’ve never used it before, although the more you use it the faster you learn how it works. Has available feature to download maps for offline usage - especially useful when you have no cell service. Support team for the app is available and they do respond back to you within 2-3 days with tech issues (speak to Kyle directly as he is extremely knowledgeable about the app. Has more features but you cal check those out yourself. Bad stuff : Extremely vicious power drain on your phone battery while using (suggest you always keep it plugged in). Saving a route after spending time planning a route is very very bad. Saves 50% of the time IF even at all. I’d say every 5-6 rides out of 10 will save, the rest will never save. Price for upgraded version is a little pricy - Cheaper gps’s out there that have similar features, though not all of them like this app. Needs a phone support team or maybe an online live support staff team for tech issues - 2-3 days for a tech issue question is annoying at times especially when you want to ride right away. Middle stuff : When the app is doing what you paid for it to do everything is hunky dory and life is a breeze as you’re heading down the road on your bike. About 70-75% of the time. When the app isn’t working properly it’s extremely frustrating knowing your money is being wasted on something that developers and tech designers should have fixed before they sent the app out into the world. If your asking premium prices for the app then deliver what your asking us to pay for without excuses. As real hardcore traveling bikers know a good motorcycle gps is extremely hard to find. And although it’s got good to really good potential, this app still has more growing up to do to meet that requirement.
It’s like a trick knee, sometimes it seems okay, then you can’t rely on it. For 15-20 miles it never changed from turn left on street name, but mileage to next turn and blue route line was changing. Sometimes it just freezes up. I just can’t count on it and end up going back to another navigation app. Don’t know why I paid for the pro.
Overall great app to track, plan and share rides. On my older Samsung it could be glitchy though, most frustrating was being 90% of the way through a ride and have the app crash and lose all the info. Even if your phone reboots it should restart a ride in progress. Seems more stable on iPhone.
Tried relive for most of this year. Decided to give REVER a go since it’s advertised for motorcycles. Would love to see video creation similar to relive on this app. Would definitely pay for it if it had it.
Use it in my adventure bike and couldn’t follow back country discovery route GPX tracks. I don’t mean no turn by turn I mean REVER showed the tracks on the phone perfectly but when CarPlay activate my tracks disappeared. Only reason I paid for a year subscription and I got zero value. Only pain.
Update on 11/10/2022 just crashes. Makes the app completely useless. Did they even test it?
