This has been so much fun! My husband and I used the comparison feature on the app and loved seeing where we were alike and where we were different! My son was happy to see that I didn’t carry the gene for male hair loss - and my husband has always taken credit for our daughter’s beautiful auburn hair but now we know we BOTH carry the gene!
Very hard to navigate
I got my DNA tested and analyzed just to see where I was from, but instead uncovered a family secret that someone has kept secret and the person who we thought was my half sister is actually my 1st cousin!!! 😳
My previous DNA results was a little different than this one. How so?
This entire ‘business’ is set up to keep you spending money. Good for them I guess, but I’m only paying for the, almost useless, first step.
Monthly fees for all the info 23andme gives me for free. I’m a curious user not a geneology person. Not worth my money for you to tell me what I already know.
Ancestry. Com helped me discover my Fathers birth family. He was adopted in 1919 as an infant. He always wanted to know who he was. Long after his death I was able to track down the history of birth parents and their families. It’s been very interesting to me, especially the pictures I’ve been able to find.
Found my father through Ancestry. I only had my birthday, place and a story. The story was that my dad and mom had a one weekend stay. He was on leave from the army and she was deaf. He died a few months before I found him 2017. I do have a two new sisters and many cousins. I always had a empty feeling but it closed when I found my dad.
I truly wish that our DNA would automatically correct any mistakes we make in our family tree and add unknown names as appropriate. I thought that’s what we were paying for but apparently not it sure would help help in our search.
