I spent $20 on the Carista adapter hoping to make some coding tweaks on my GTI. I used the month long free trial of the “pro” features to mess around with my windows and lights and other trivial little things. The features are pretty limited and there’s no long coding support. After that I let the trial end then canceled my subscription, expecting that I’d still be able to use the more basic features like resetting service notices and checking fault codes. NOPE! Every feature on the app is now behind a paywall making the adapter completely useless. Of course I have the option to pay $40 for a years’ worth of app usage or $10 for a week, but come on! I have to pay half of or double what the adapter cost just to reset my oil change reminder? That doesn’t add up. OBD tools are plenty cheap now and trying to make people pay extra fees to use the basic features of this one is foolish. Sure, they could keep the customizing features behind their paywall but don’t make the tool completely worthless if someone doesn’t want to pay more for something they just bought. Devs, if you insist on getting people to cough up more for your product, why not allow people to buy pro access for a specific vehicle for life? An extra $5 means I get to tweak my car as long as I have it? I guess that’s reasonable. Food for thought.
I’ve used a lot of these products and apps and this one is hands down my favorite
Product does what it says it does but there’s no reason it’s $40 a year! I bought the device for $30 and one year pro and made the adjustments I needed to in my car. That’s $70 plus another $40 for year two. This product is not worth $110+ beware of autorenewing subscriptions!
Got questions ... when you gonna be able to update so we can customize Nissan Rogues ? I hope you do :)
40 bucks for this is unreal, the app it self is okay. But for the price we should have more options instead windows/lights and door to be reprogrammed. My Audi A3 could be reprogrammed on how I want to lock and unlock, windows, lights (which was cool) but it doesn’t justifies the price! It does reads hidden codes (which is cool) but again 40 bucks nahhh I’d say for 9,99 it’s okay, and they do have this price but for a week lol (see they think that this thing worth like gold). Nice try, I took advantage of the free week that they gave me and could do everything I wanted during this time. Even after finished I said ... okay I’ll buy it cause it was cool, then 40 bucks lol (nope) 9,99 per year and I’ll be here buying and also giving the 5 stars.
After one of the updates stopped working. Terrible customer support
This product was fantastic for what I needed it for. I changed my own oil and replaced my spark plugs but couldn’t clear the “inspection due” notification. Paying $9.99 to clear the message as opposed to paying $400 to service the car at the dealership is a no-brainer. Saved me a ton.
I purchased the OBD2 adaptor and used it once. It reported that all the running lights of my car were faulty, when they were all working correctly. It also failed to reset the engine warning light, produced an error internal to the app and requested that I send a narrative error report to Carista. I am disappointed that an app this costly and its associated device do not work out of the box. I will be returning the device for a full refund.
Don’t waste your money on this garbage. I’ve tried applying many of the modifications listed for the Audi S3 and only a few of them work. I’d highly recommend OBDEleven over this. At least the functions listed for that app actually work and you don’t have to pay an absurd 39.99 for a years worth of garbage.
