It really is. One aspect that I really like is them breaking down even the gear used in the song. That’s pretty cool.
Absolutely the best !!! Positive encouragement with practical advice. Answer most if not all of those little “why didn’t that sound right” questions. I’ve tried to learn to play several times before and each time gave up frustrated. I now know that it was because I didn’t have good, practical, guidance. Now I do, so I have no excuses. Thanks Guitartricks !!!
This is an indispensable site for anyone who wants to learn guitar and enjoy practice . The instructors are knowledgeable and thorough and bring out the nuances of theory . Their love and appreciation of the craft and material shines through. There are great songs in multiple genres , lessons for building chops, and interesting tips. Worth every penny - best bang for the buck !
I’m 40 and new to the guitar. Things are coming along very well and I’m starting to really get the hang of things. The instructors are amazing
Guitar Tricks is simply amazing. The learning experience is fun and the classes are excellent. Teaching an old guy new (guitar) tricks is not easy but they are doing an excellent job. Highly recommended
I knew nothing about guitar a year and a half ago, but I always thought it would be something I would want to learn someday. So finally, after deciding that I spent too many winter evenings watching Netflix, I bit the bullet on a $200 guitar and bought the gt app. I Worked through all the lessons in fundamental 1 and 2 in 6-8 months. i have been playing songs ever since and learning more each day. Guitar tricks continues to offer song lessons at easy to advanced levels so I know that as I improve, I will never get bored. After a year I decided I liked playing so much I bought a $2,000 Taylor guitar which I love. I will tackle the advanced fundamentals when I decide on a direction. But meanwhile, I’m having too much fun learning songs. I get a little better every day.
I’ve had Guitar Tricks for about three years and it has really improved my skills and song learning. I’ve tried a few others but I believe that the song library and versatility along with the top notch instructors make this the best. If you want to approach learning songs the right way, this is the app for you. I record on a multitrack so learning all guitar parts are crucial and this does it. Also it teaches all types of skills and techniques which I really need. I usually use it at home on my desktop but when away from home this keeps me practicing. Guitar Tricks is constantly adding new material, instructors, and songs. This is a 5 star all the way.
First off - I am a lefty and actually need to play a lefty guitar. I have tried playing the other way and it hurts my head. No where, anywhere online or in apps of any type seem to address lefties - would love for any app to do that. Stating the I find the beginning fundamentals 1 to be easy to follow and mentally convert for left handed guitar. Interestingly enough, once I learn a simple chord or drill on my lefty, I can then pick up one of my children’s guitars and play it righty too. Go figure. Some of the pacing is a little too slow for me - but I play other instruments and my family has lots of guitars in the house. If I knew nothing at all the introduction to general guitar knowledge would be very helpful. Overall, the one instructor I have followed is clear and easy to understand. She refers to the tab button where the lyrics and music can be printed as one. I question if this is from the online platform? In the app, I find the music - screenshot it and then send it to print. As far as I can tell the lyrics are under the little video and not at all with the music. Personally, I would like them also in the music I am printing. Not sure if it is simply my phone but I would like to be able to play the videos with my phone in the horizontal position and the video taking up the entire screen. So far I have not found this to work. I like the breakout down of lessons and realize that when you choose from the initial lesson you can eventually get to a list of lessons in the section and then return wherever but I would like that selection to be offered without the first video playing. In other words a list and then sub blush and then videos. I also understand that playing lessons over and over is the call but having some type of tree that marks lessons you have worked through would be helpful. After a week I can play every lesson I have tried successfully on the guitar and I find the app and instruction user friendly. I would simply find the fee things I mentioned an enhancement to the experience. The lefty thing is a wish not for this app but for the future or for a small section.
Hi I just got the app and most of the videos are acoustic and electric, I have an electric guitar but I mainly focus on my ukulele, do you guys have any videos on that, I wanted to pay for the subscription but there’s no point if I can’t learn the instrument I want, also whenever I choose a song to learn on the electric they all say “upgrade for full access” are there any free lessons or a sorting button for free? I just want to see how the instructors teach on the app to see if I like it, other than that it’s a pretty good app.
Without words. Perfect app.
