Better than a dedicated chart plotter
Continual updates to charts, Bob’s Tracks on the ICW, ACOE data and integration of Active Captain and Waterway Guide. And Explorer charts for the Bahamas. Have portability and redundancy over iOS and Android. Great.
Chart types raster versus vector
Lose my downloads. Turn on my iPad load up aquamaps and my settings are lost
ZERO STARS! No autorouting! For me, didn’t prefer GUI, lacked features. Found better option!
After months of use, my experience with this app was poor! Found much better option.
New to navigation
It took me sometime to set this up . It required the purchase of a new iPad with cellular service then setting up the cell service. It is reasonably easy to learn . It’s very clear and easy to understand.
Syncing, etc
Ability to sync maps and routes across devices doesn’t exist. finding and marking places is like a poor kindergarten version of Google Maps. No routing ability. just a couple icons to mark spots. they seem to be working more on adding shallow checkmark features, then really going deep to provide functionality with a smaller subset of high priority features. it works, and is useful but not great.
Backup
When my chart plotter malfunctioned returning from Florida, I used AquaMaps on my iPhone to Navigate home. Saved my butt!

Outstanding Integration
As one of your first users of Aqua Map many years ago I am writing to thank you for your wonderful application and its integration with and continuing relationship with Waterway Guide! Hopefully with the ease of integration more and more users will take the opportunity to provide crowd sourced information for anchorages and marinas! Active Captian was a wonderful source of information but no more as it is woefully out of date. I hope and implore all Aqua Map users to actively provide updates to Waterway Guide through Aqua Maps! Let us all make both the invaluable tool for updated information while cruising.
Aquamap issues.
Lots of good features, but boat icon freezes and does not show current position making Aquamap dangerous to use. After 4 contacts with technical support the problem is not resolved. Live voice support is not offered. Recommend using another app for navigation.
