The app was pretty fun to use with friendsin the beginning . Had a bunch of great features like 2x speed and sharing of photos and other ways to communicate and after having them free they decided to start charging for them. I was already barely using the app, now I use it even less. Charging people for something that used to be free is not a great model of business.
I was automatically charged YESTERDAY without authorization, Saturday, March 6. I installed Marco Polo back in DECEMEBER! I was communicating with 1 (ONE) friend on this app! I have only talked to her (used the app) probably a total of 5 times. All of a sudden I get an alert that I have a $63.96 charged to my account AUTOMATICALLY! There’s no reason for me to pay this for a 1 whole year when I only communicate with 1 person! I have multiple channels of FREE communication with all other friends and family that I already use; zoom, Snapchat, FaceTime via my iPhone. There’s only this one friend that insists on using Marco Polo and then after receiving her message I end up texting her anyways. This charged needs to be corrected immediately!
Marco Polo is the greatest to me’. I get to see my children and grand children and hear them talk every single day long distance!
Enjoy being able to send a little video to friends I don’t see everyday! Thanks!
This app is a wonderful idea, and I’ve found myself using it recently to keep in contact with a friend of mine that’s normally very busy. If you’re wondering if you’re going to like Marco Polo or not, best to just give it a try, because even if it’s not ideally what you’d like, there’s no harm in trying it out. A couple features I’d like to see added is a dark mode feature for when your viewing Polo’s late at night, maybe after a long workday or something. Another is a reverse camera mode. When filming a Polo with the screen side camera, the image is flipped to how you’d see yourself in a mirror, but it stays that way after video compression. It’d be cool to have an option to flip the video back to how it normally should look during the video compression phase, like how the iPhone’s native camera app works. Also, the normal video quality for the free version of the app is very very low (what seems to be about 480p or something), so I have a hard time making out some of what my friend tries to show me. It would be nice to have the basic Polo compression at around 720p, but I get that you all need to make money and offer 1080p Polo messaging with the pro subscription. A pro subscription will set ya back about 60 bucks per year and it’s got a lot of great features including HD, but honestly, the main reason to use this app at all is still free, so I do appreciate that. Kinda wish I could pick the features I wanted and pay once (or use with ads, because this app has been ad free for me so far which is pretty neat), but we don’t live in that world I guess. Still, great app! Worth looking into for sure if you’re trying to find a neat way to keep up with your busy friends and family, or just trying to connect with someone you know in quarantine.
Can’t get sound from senders??
Better than snapchat
I’ve had this app. Since it came out. What is so disappointing is how much they want you to PAY for the app. If you want the whole app. and all that comes with it. They want extra money!! 60$ too 100$ extra when I can FaceTime or leave a voice message and or leave a video for them. Idk why they did this!! Well I do for MONEY! I can’t reply back in the marco unless you pay. U Cant write, reply, or use emojis unless YOU PAY EXTRA!!! Its a money making business of course. I her that but that’s a lot of money going out!
Hi folks, first off I absolutely love this app and could not have survived covid isolation without it!! Thank you so much!! Secondly, I had a suggestion for future updates of Plus: it would be great if we could choose which emojis appear on the sidebar for real-time use. For example, I rarely use the “thank you hands” but would use a laughing face a lot. Thanks again!!
They charged me $63 without my consent, upgrading to Marco Polo Plus. I had been using the free app for about three years, when suddenly and without warning or consent, they charged me to upgrade from free to Plus. Thankfully PayPal notified me of their charge, or they might have gotten away with it. SCAMMERS!
