Watch the temp!

So delicious! Wouldn’t change a thing, but chops cooked more fully during my searing in a cast iron skillet and took much less time in the oven. Mind your meat thermometer and you will be rewarded.

Super Useful!

Great recipes, varied and well-written. I use it everyday if only for new ideas. Also the commenting community is sophisticated and worth reading. Problem: the search function is poorly designed.

Why do the recipes appear blank

Essential app

5
I have hundreds of cookbooks I’ve accumulated over the years, but this is my first go-to source for ideas and recipes, from basic to exotic. And the comments are often hilarious-a typical one lays out how the commenter changed the recipe in 14 different ways, but then complains about the result, blaming the recipe that they didn’t follow. Use the recipes with confidence, read the comments and use their alterations with care.

Great recipes

We have had great success with every recipe we have tried. No failures at all! NYT cooking has become our “go to” for recipes.

Easy to use great ideas

I love the app. I also love the laptop version. When some thing is on sale at the market whether it’s a certain kind of meat or a fruit or vegetable that I’ve always been curious about I can see if there’s a recipe. I also have some people whose recipes I think are always to my taste: Melissa Clark, FlorenceFabricant ,Sam I am willing to take a risk on parentheses Bittman and Sifton) and I have found some entirely new kinds of cooking Yewsnde Komolafe. It’s great Just get Jacque Pepin back writingAnd I’ll be able to turn out good meals without killing myself

Impossible to cancel

1
The creators of this subscription service have made it virtually impossible to cancel your subscription once you’ve started it - so beware! After waiting for many cumulative hours on-hold between the customer care phone line and the apparently un-manned chat service in the app (the only ways offered to request to cancel your subscription) - I finally decided to go for a stalemate and just pause my subscription (so I would at least stopped being charged temporarily) - and of course the app gives the message that a “technical error has occurred please try again”. It’s a con and I am thoroughly unamused. The app itself is fine and the recipes are of course wonderful. But if you find yourself unwilling or unable to continue paying for the subscription- The NYT will still take your money whether you like it or not

Grocery Lists & Comments

3
I no longer have the ability to add items to the grocery list. After “adding” them, they simply disappear. The comments section is incredibly helpful but the execution is straight out of 1998. At the very least, nested comments should be utilized.

Buy it, 100% worth it

5
Finally bought the app after lurking NYT recipes for a few years. Wish I could make up for lost time! Every recipe I have tried has been a winner, and the way they’re written has me so spoiled now: clear, concise, specific, and sufficient, without pages and pages of fluff (looking at You, cooking blogs). Reader/home cooks’ comments are easy to click on and read, so you get a chorus of extra tips for each recipe. I love this app. Truly an unexpected favorite. Get it!
