Returning to PvZ classic reminded me off all the stuff I loved in the original and don’t in the heavily micro transaction PvZ2. It’s fun, whimsical and casual enough to play over morning coffee. But EA couldn’t just sell the old one. Aside from the mood killing ads (which you can buy out of and ignore the rest, to be fair), much of the content has to be purchased— either with a long grind or (as they clearly want) purchased coins. Don’t think we didn’t notice that they changed Zen Garden enough that making money is harder. Do the math— you’ll lose money if you raise and sell marigolds. I suppose it’s too much to want to just buy a game and play it anymore. But that said, this is still a good relaxing time. George Fan is a terrific designer— another EA moment was letting him go from the franchise.
Too easy and boring af
