-too many times the podcast position on the watch doesn't sync with the phone. I can't figure out when it does and when it doesn't. -after an alarm or timer goes off on the watch the podcast doesn't resume playing. this is a very annoying issue in the gym. -there is no speed adjustment on the watch.
Seriously, this app does exactly everything I need a podcast app to do. Adjust speed, automatically delete old episodes, set speeds for specific podcasts. But probably my favorite thing it does is when playback is interrupted for another notification (like Waze) the podcast is backed up by a second or two when it resumes so you don’t miss what was being said... genius. This is obviously a podcast app built by podcast fans.
Being able to tap on “unplayed” or “all” to sort them newest/oldest was a great feature. Now I have to go to settings, choose which one I want to sort the other way, and tap that? This is a big downgrade.
I love how overcast lets you download podcast to your watch but it’s extremely unreliable. It won’t transfer sometimes it just gets stuck “preparing” to download. I wish it was more reliable
And is normally 5 stars - however the last update has caused a weird audio glitch that causes words to sometimes jumble up. It’s like 2 seconds or so of audio all comes out at once and then it goes back to normal. Something like this normally wouldn’t bother me if it was infrequent however this happens every 20-30 seconds. I know that it will be fixed as this app has always had an excellent level of polish. When it gets fixed it will be five stars again.
This is a great podcast player, features that nobody else has, and Whwn bugs crop up, they get squashed! The most recent update fixed a minor audio problem that cropped up recently. The developer always adds great new features that at real value. I love being an annual paid supporter.
All other apps should aspire to be this good. Super functional without being overloaded with useless features. Clean design, small size. I was surprised when the last update had bugs in it, a week later they’re all fixed and it’s once again perfect.
Great alternative to Apple Podcast and far more user friendly. Many options to tweak your style if you want. The only feature that I’ve found to be missing is a “save” so I can bookmark or retain a podcast for repeated listening.
Overcast was the best, most stable app in my 6S+, but it now acts very buggy since the update that introduced a new dynamic compression routine (though I don’t use this feature). Most issues seem to be related to time keeping related to podcasts being played with “Smart Speed” and/or playback speeds greater than 1X. There are times where it appears that the play time goes backwards after the podcast goes silent, therefore never finishing. I have to manually quit the podcast. Another issue that is getting quite annoying is that several podcasts that I have listened to and deleted show up again as new.
I love the fast-play feature that lets me speed it up, and the smart feature that allows me to automatically skip silent gap moments. Really nice app. The reason for not giving 5 stars is that I find navigation difficult. There are times when I’m not sure I’m searching a particular podcast series for a keyword or if I’m finding new podcasts with that keyword. Or I’m not sure if a button is about to show me settings for a podcast playback or for the entire app itself. A bit frustrating but not bad enough to find something else.
