Much better than others

This is much better than other podcasting apps I’ve tried. I’m just getting into using the advanced settings and maybe they will bring me up to 5 stars. We’ll see!

Very good, but terribly slow on a 5s

I like the app a lot, but it’s very slow on a 5s. Scrolling is choppy and tapping is delayed for about 10 seconds after launching the app. Don’t know if it’s my old phone or a process in the app (like fetching new episodes) that slows it down so much.

I don’t typically write reviews, but while digging into some of the app’s settings, I saw the rating prompt and enthusiastically plowed ahead. And that is probably what my review will boil down to: I enjoy the experience of this app enough to where I almost automatically wanted to write a supportive review without having identified why I like the experience so well. I can’t enumerate the reasons why I like this app so well, just praise the overall experience. In thinking about it, I have concluded (at least preliminarily) that this app just gets out of the way and lets me listen to podcasts, which is the point. Like utilities: Nobody thinks about electricity until it goes out. Also, smart speed, the cutting out of pauses without having to speed up the playback is awesome, saving me time without forcing me to listen to fly people. It’s super-reliable, too. It doesn’t crash; doesn’t spend five minutes pretending to download a podcast only to flash the cloud icon again; doesn’t re-download podcasts I have already listened to; synchs between devices; plays back on one device exactly where it left off on the previous device. Huh, I did have some reasons.

Great App

Why would you use Itune’s clunky podcast app when you can use one that works...all the time. Settings are easy to customize like episode limits, rewind and forward skipping, and oldest to newest orientation (if you’re behind on a pod). You won’t regret changing to a better app as this one certainly is.

Great org + playback, garbage search

I’ve been using Overcast as my primary player since release day. I try other players constantly. Nothing has beaten its organization with smart playlists and user-first playback features like sound normalizing & basically inventing smart speed to decrease silences in playback. The one glaring weakness has always been search. I constantly have to open Apple podcasts to discover casts outside my bubble. If the developer can ever figure out a better discovery engine, this app will be unstoppable.

in Watch app sound stops after timer/alarm

The apple watch app stops playing after timer or alarm and doesnt restart by itself even when I stop the timer. I have to start the podcast manually each time.
