This app used to work great, never had an issue. Now it doesn’t connect and because it doesn’t connect, I have issues using other apps. I am so disappointed as I have to remove it and add it back on every day, it won’t work if I don’t have an internet connection and I have the cellular data active. I’ve paid for this thru 9/2021 and now can’t use it. Very frustrating!!
iPhone SE / iOS v12.1 / 3⭐️⭐️⭐️ SecureLine v5.0.6 (legacy review) review updated on: [ 02/12/2019 ] The device is running a legacy, version (SL-v5.0.6), of this app and I haven’t found (or had), any serious issues (the cost is lame), with this app’s functionality. So what requires me to update it? I am changing my rating (bummer!), to 3 stars. For example: you cannot use the Funimation (Streams Anime) app when connected to a Japanese Servers, for example… (curious no?) I felt I may have been a bit overconfident, in rating this VPN service and would like to see some more STREAMING / P2P servers, more locales on here, and how about a less conspicuous company and server name? I noticed these issues (awhile ago), when I attempted to use certain apps/services (even if everything is set to über anonymous/private). The listed IP/Domain: ff.avast.xxxxx.xxx [etc.] (+company/country code/IP), is a bit on the nose, isn’t it? While it’s better than having my true IP/ISP listed (gps still rats you out), it still makes me feel a bit nervous, when you do some cursory research and test certain applications. Domestic (local/regional), apps can’t be utilized when you are connected to a foreign VPN. Also, if you connect to Japan (for example), and then trace the address to a psychical locale it is a government building (big brother)! Protecting our identities is [very] important, in this digital age, but utilizing, “Senpai’s” computer network does make me feel a bit paranoid! If they knew how much anime I enjoyed, they’d think I’m full blown “hakiku mori,” or a crazed Otaku! All joking aside… I’m going to test out this app as much as I can and simply report on what I discover. It’d be nice if the app’s subscription fees were a little bit cheaper! May I suggest a special 2yr/2 device plan? I feel like some people won’t even fully utilize their 1yr/5 device plan. The fact that it “looks,” like it’s reasonably priced and “worth,” the cost is not entirely enticing to me! Can you at least add more services? If you guys had a bundle of: AVS/SL-VPN/Cleaner (1-2yrs/2-5 devices), PC/MAC, then the service would be more enjoyable. Enough of my ramblings! Learn to configure it before you start harping on the Devs. 5 Stars! -------------Old Review------------ Perfect App is v4.3.2 ** ( 4⭐️ ) Barely disconnects, decent D/L & U/L speeds and if it does disconnect it reconnects immediately. Recommend getting the iOS only license for your phone and download the *.dmg from their website, not the App Store for your MAC, to avoid any issues. I never had any issues with this app and never updated this app after v4.3.2 and I'm using an iPhone SE (iOS v10.3.3). Since I never had issues with this app, I didn't see the need to update it. I will test the app's update after I backup my device. If the update is unreliable, then all these poor reviews are justified and doesn't make me feel very confident and if the MAC's App Store version is anything to go by, then it's not worth it. So far (for me), it's a 4 Star app. Let's see how it works after I update it.
I love Avast Premium on my computer, not one problem, but this VPN has only worked off and on for the past year or two. When connecting to WiFi, it connects and disconnects over and over making WiFi connection impossible. It will be fixed one update and back to unfixed the next, I will not renew this VPN when it comes up for renewal. I’m sorry but enough is enough.
Whenever I connect the vpn.. I immediately lost all internet connection.. Before I connect the vpn all internet access are working perfectly well .. but immediately I connect avast secureline vpn all my internet access stops instantly.. Pls help .. Thanks
I have ATT internet but am switching to Spectrum. No problem using VPN app while I was an ATT subscriber. Instead of an ATT modem-router combo, I bought my own router to go with the Spectrum modem to avoid rental fees. That is where my troubles began. I could not get the Netgear app to work on my iPad and one suggestion was that VPN could interfere. I ended up switching to a Linksys router. I was able to connect the Linksys app after setting up my account on my laptop, but my internet connection became a problem. I kept getting disconnected. So, I deleted the Avast VPN app on one iPad. No problem connecting on that one. Since I still have ATT, I connected to the internet on my other iPad using ATT and went into the Avast app. I disconnected the “connect automatically when not on a trusted network” feature and was able to connect to the internet again. Then I decided to add the Linksys router to my trusted networks. So far it is working. I went into copious detail so maybe people with more technical knowledge can figure this out. I am not sure if the problem is with Spectrum’s internet settings, the change to a separate router and modem, the app or what. BTW, initially the Spectrum connection worked, then it stopped working later in the day. I may end up manually connecting the VPN if my solution does not continue to work, something I can live with.
I’ve been a PAID subscriber for 3 years, my husband and I. VPN no longer works as previously, insisting that I remove a trusted WiFi from the network to use the VPN. It’s now useless to me. No, I will not. I have also gotten renewal notifications, which is bogus. I still have my 1-22-18 Renewal Receipt for $21.21 from Apple. I’m suppose to connected through 1-22-19. Not good!
How do I delete this from my phone? I don’t want it!! It renews Jan 3 2019. I don’t want to be billed again!! How do I contact Avast?????
The updates seem to never really solve the biggest problems. This app, which I have paid for the last two years, frequently drops the connection to the server and does not reconnect. It doesn’t notify you either. I suddenly realize on public WiFi or at home that suddenly I’m no longer connected to my VPN. Happens during active use or idle periods. Additionally, every couple weeks or so it will say that it has to reinstall the VPN profile out of the blue. Closing the app and relaunching sometimes fixes this. Very annoying especially when your connection is no longer secure. Sometimes it asks to reinstall the VPN profile back to back to back even with a reboot of my phone. IPhone 10 and 6+ have identical problems running this app. I’m going to start looking for a better VPN service before my next years payment. Time to do some homework and hope to not deal with the same frustration with other providers. I’m even willing to pay significantly more elsewhere just not to be frustrated so often. I have other apps from Avast that work flawlessly so why can’t they get it together with SecureLine?
it was working perfectly for around 2 months, after that it just stop working. it says “reconnecting “ and it never does, later an error pops up “the vpn server did not respond” . i tried uninstalling and reinstalling and it didn’t work. sometimes it works when i use my cellular data. the support is very poor.
The last update, make the app broken and stop work without reason. Every time shows the message to tap the fingers ou authentication when we changing the country. ( will change the VPN solution). For a pay and expensive solution not a great option anymore. My warning is solve this issues... fast...
