Turn your iPhone into a high-tech meteorological tool with the Vaavud app and the Vaavud wind meter. No more looking-at-the-trees-and-waves guesswork. Make a precise measurement of the wind no matter where you are and what you are up to. If you are into sailing, windsurfing, kite surfing, kite boarding, land yachting, balloon flying, paragliding, hunting, kite flying, kayaking, drone flying, hiking, golf, biking, etc., etc. - or if you are just plain curious about the weather around you, then Vaavud is for you! The app requires the Vaavud wind meter for smartphones, which can be bought on Vaavud.com. Features include: • Current, average, and maximum wind speed • Graph with current and average wind speed • Live map of wind measurements • Measurement history • Ability to choose unit (m/s, knots, mph, km/h, bft)
Got this at Christmas in a Pollyanna. The app is a horrible, constantly crashing. Really this is just a silly invention. Dollar store junk.
Big disappointment, the app crashes constantly and the product is unusable. Waste of money and time, not worth 99 cents let alone 99 dollars. Developers, pull this product from the market until you fix it.
This app has major bugs and needs a big overhaul. What this app needs to do is share all collected wind speed data with the NOAA to further improve their ability to forecast the weather.
I think it’s great! I use it as a kitesurfer and sailor. It’s great having a device on hand that is more accurate then weather stations, as well as having access to the measurements of others is truly amazing!
Vaavud is extremely user friendly and the app seems to be very stable with no bugs thus far.
I backed the first iteration on kickstarter and then the second. At no time did they ever say we're going to completely cripple the use of this by requiring a login and an internet connection. I use this for sailing and don't always have an internet connection out on the water and I can't believe they have just bricked this for me.
I don't have time to log in to social media when I need to assess my wind speed. This is only a ploy to gain more info on me. We want to USE the product...the now "worthless waste of money" product.
This update makes the whole system useless. Who needs social media to measure wind? When we are out on the water there is no internet access so when we most need to or want to measure the wind we can't. We were on the boat for a week and would have liked to measure wind but couldn't - no internet. I want to return this now worthless piece of junk unless the app is quickly fixed for to measure wind without Internet access.
I like the idea and the design is pretty cool too but i have serious issues with the world map. Its showing the grid and the measurements across the globe and there's no map underneath or whatsoever. This way its pretty much useless. I keen to see it work
This application needs to login to Facebook or be online just to start. If you are in a situation where you need this application to work but have no internet you will be out of luck.
