I have been using the app now for approx. 3 years now. I have had a number of Garmin GPS units which helped to keep me on track in unfamiliar territory. None provided the amount of info that OnXmaps delivers and I was always having to work through bugs with them. I found myself using OnXmaps more and more and eventually only carried the GPS in the holder on my Ranger. Last year I found myself in a dispute on some land that was listed as US government trust land but was apparently being leased to an unnamed Native American tribe. The told me I couldn’t hunt on the land and called law is enforcement. Law Enforcement upheld my position and said that they also use OnXmaps. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is that it only works in the vertical position on my IPad and doesn’t rotate. Yes, I admit that all of the landowner info isn’t up to the minute accurate, but last time I checked I’m not right 100% of the time either. If there is a piece of property I want to hunt on that’s private, I don’t take it for granted that it’s okay to hunt on, I try to contact them. If I can’t contact the landowner, I hunt somewhere else. Simple enough. Highly recommend. Good luck in your adventures.
Best customer service I have received! Very knowledgeable and respectful. I definitely recommend this app!!
Great maps and overlays. Customer service is great. Had an issue with billing( not their fault) they responded and fixed the issue within a couple hours. Updating my handheld devices with OnX maps also.
I’ve just started using OnX & it looks like it’ll be a huge help hunting this season in Wyoming for antelope !! I want to know exactly where I am relative to land status & ownership. Very important out in the antelope country or any game country while hunting/scouting. Jerry Gold Ft Collins, Colorado
OnX just keeps getting better and better with every update, but please add a widget for iOS! One of the few subscriptions I am always glad to renew.
We use OnX for all of our hunting and mapping. It’s so easy to use and the customer service is phenomenal.
I gave the free trial a shot and could not come up with a reason to pay for an annual subscription. I use Google Earth and import overlays getting the same results. I then carry my phone and tablet into the woods using those overlays. Satellite imagery and topographic overlays are free so why would you want to pay for it. Update 8/21/19 Here is the response from ONX, "Thank you for the feedback. The onX Hunt App is more than satellite imagery and topographic maps. Our app combines private land and government land data with a huge amount of other information like hunting units, trails, trail slope, recreation sites, and specialty hunting layers, as well as GPS tools, making it the most useful and comprehensive app for hunters available on the market today." I mentioned importing “overlays” into Google Earth. Those overlays that I mentioned importing have everything you mentioned; “trails, slope, recreation sites, and specialty hunting layers”. My imports allow me to see what is public land and what is private land. If I want to know who owns the private land I can get that for free also. I have free tools that allow me to edit my overlays. ONX offers nothing that is not out there for free already. So why would anyone want to pay for what is free elsewhere?
The Best !!!
As a Conservation Officer in the Rocky Mountains as well as avid hunter/outdoorsman I find myself using OnX nearly every day in the field or at home on my desktop in the office. For $30/yr there is really no reason not to have the entirety of your states GPS knowledge at your fingertips on your smartphone at all times. OnX’s interface and ease of use is also unparalleled in the realm of GPSs. Can’t recommend it enough. Way to go OnX team. 👌🏻
