This is a great app! The info is priceless, accurate, and easy to use! Perfect for the backwoods hiker or the weekend day hiker. Thanks again!
I am a novice backpacker, but this app helped me plan and hike like an expert. I just used the JMT app on a 55 mile backpacking trip. The app helped me plan and adjust my trip real time with the notes of backpackers that walked the trail just before me. The app allows you to plan everything from campsites, water, and resupply points. I also like the elevation profile feature that allows you to plan the miles for the day. You know whether the trail will be an uphill trek and by how much elevation. The backpacker comment feature in the app is very important and useful. Hikers can make posts about trail conditions, so you can learn if you have to hike two miles for water or ten miles. A map may show you a river crossing, but this app will let you know if the river is actually flowing when a previous hiker posts an update. This app gives you near real time information to plan your hike. This app doesn’t just show you where you are every step of the way, the app provides useful information and photos of important trail features along the way. The app works with your phone’s own GPS and does not require a cellular connection. Awesome app! Highly recommend.
Works great at home but my purchased AT map disappears when on trail. No obvious way to fix or load the map I paid for. All I get on trail are way points.
A really great app that makes hiking a lot more fun. It’s easier to find water and campsites and has good information. It’s also fun to watch your progress when you feel like it’s taking forever to get to your destination.
Dear Mr. Guthook Thank you so much for this phone app! I love this phone app! It helps when I’m doing hiking! Thanks again! Sincerely King Pin
I love this app. And I love that they keep it updated. This year, because of home issues, I have not been able to hike, but I am able to follow along with hikers I follow on YouTube. With the ability to use the app off-line I’ve been able to find cross roads to the trail so I can provide trail magic to hikers. That has been fun! It is so helpful to have all the options within the app to see water sources, elevation profiles, etc. the developers here have really done their homework and created an app that can be a lifesaver out in the wild. Well done, folks,👍
After returning home, it became clear that my preset messages were received by the designated recipients. However, when I hit the send button the screen didn’t really give me a chirp or any display that the message had been successfully sent. Even in sparse trees, the device indicated poor signal strength. So if you’re going to have an accident, try to plan it out in the open air. Message from
Great App. Works exactly like you hope it will. Tons of information. Highly recommended.
I had high hopes, but can’t even create an account or access any info, I keep getting an error message. 🤷🏻♀️
A must have, if you like to know how to get up top.
