Introducing the Democrat and Chronicle Print Edition app, where subscribers can read the Democrat and Chronicle on an iPad with all the stories, photos and ads shown just as it appears in print. Subscribers can use their current account login to access current and back issues.
Recently (few months) this app will not load current or sometimes even that days paper. Have to delete app and reload. Very tiresome.
Keep on getting “no internet connection” when trying to download daily content despite Speedtest showing 120/50.
The sign in is required far too often. Then for no discernible reason the app claims to not be connected to the internet. Funny, every other app on my pad seems to be connected. It shouldn’t be such a PITA to use.
This app rarely works right. Opening the app frequently get internet not available messages when internet is functional for all other devices and apps on said device I am using. When enlarging the page the page forward functions disappear & can only be restored by exiting the app. All pictures are lost when using the app function to read a specific article. And now as of January 1st the app is not working at all. Don’t waste your time installing this app.
I recently updated to 13.2.2 and the app is prone to freezing where you cannot scroll or do anything. I have to shut down the app to make it functional. This morning a couple articles continuously froze so I had to expand the page view to read anything. The restarts do take me back to the page that I was on but this is very frustrating. January 2nd: New problem today. The app will not recognize my internet connection so I can only see editions prior to today. I tried the web interface and it is the same thing. I even rebooted my internet to make sure it was ok. All along I had been able to use other apps and websites with no problems. You have an issue with the interface. Please correct it so I don’t have to request a credit.
Many items fail to come into focus. Pictures are extremely low res. When it fails to work, error messages are unhelpful. Thought it would work better on my brand new iPad but this was wishful thinking. Update a year later: the app still stinks. And the content it delivers has been becoming increasingly meaningless.
I decided to be a better eco citizen and read the D& C on my ipad to save a few trees and the added energy for delivery. The app works well most of the time. I have had frustrating freezes as others have noted. My biggest gripe is how often the app forces me to sign in. A raoyal pain in the you know what! Only I can get into my iPad. Why the constant harassment? At the very least include the finger print reader! I have hundreds of passwords... Having to look one up every other time I use the app is beyond annoying.
Doesn’t make use for an Xs sized screen
This is the worst app I have ever seen. Navigation is bizarre. And does anyone notice that the main story is not the same as the paper newspaper and neither is the D&C website. I’m not even convinced the entire story is published on the app!
I like the app and appreciate the ability to read digitally when I’m on the go. I do hope, however that the app gets updated to support the full screen of the iPhone X. That would be a much better experience as I lose a bit of the screen to black bars at the top and bottom.
