The garmin smart link has a lot of very useful features. The problem I am experiencing is frequent lost satellite signal. The lag time between the gps and application needs to be fixed. I know you can’t completely eliminate lag time, however anything will help.
Just wanted to say for all those people leaving bad reviews it does work, just the initial sync up is a pain. You have to have the Bluetooth connected first then open app and try pairing and even then it may take couple try’s of forgetting gps in Bluetooth settings for both iPhone and on the gps itself and possibly having app open before you even connect the two. But once it does show up as connected in app all the apps show up on gps and it all works, weather, cameras, four square. The traffic takes about 3 minutes or so to show up on gps and once it says smartlink under traffic settings if you get disconnected from your phone it does not seem to revert back to normal traffic.
The smart phone work fine for a month or so them suddenly it will not pair with my iPhone 8. There have been a few updates since this happened but it still will not pair. I drive a semi so the traffic alerts were so important and was the big reason I chose my Garmin unit. Totally disappointed
This app will not interface between iPhone 8 and dezl 780ltm-s. Every form of troubleshooting, including updates and reinstallation failed. This is very typical of most Garmin software.
Works better on old Dezl cam. No pop up severe weather alerts
When I was on Android I was able to highlight a address and share it with my garmin, however that isn’t the case when your using a iPhone. You have to take multiple steps and use the smart link app just to share the address from your phone to the garmin unit. Example, highlight address and copy it, open up the smart link app, paste the address in the “find nearby places” and send it to your garmin that way. Not understanding why garmin doesn’t have a share shortcut on the iPhone.
I have an iPhone 8 with current updates. Trying to pair to Garmin 51 LMTS and an message says device not compatible.
I no longer receive weather and traffic updates thru the smartphone link. Was working till 2 months ago, then no weather, no traffic updates. Deleted and downloaded app, rechecked Bluetooth settings on my iPhone 11 and Garmin GPS...still not working.
I have an iPhone and I can’t share my address I type in on google maps to share with my device like I can with my android and I I need to type the address you guys should start with the state town address and then the house number makes things way easier
Suddenly started working. Must’ve been an update on the Garmin unit itself that fixed my broken connection. Works ok but wish traffic data was as good as Googles. Using a iPhone XS Max.
