I’ve had an online subscription to Bike for about 18 months. I love the magazine but have had problems in the last 2 to 3 months with page displays. Lately I haven’t been able to log in with my IPad. It tells me “in progress”. I’ll keep trying to reset and make sure the app is updated. I contacted tech support when I had problems with the page displays but it is still different than it was several months ago. Not as seamless as it was.
5 star content, but 1 star app. The app should at least remember where I was reading the last time without manually creating bookmarks. 2020/01 update: reduce to 1 star. The issues used to be released in an "early format" that looks like a direct scan of the paper issues, and then later updated to proper format that optimized for iPad portrait mode reading. But the Feb issue has stayed in the early format for more than a month now, and even the previous issues start to get "updated" back to the early format. Not sure why this is happening, but that early format is difficult to read, and cross page photos usually don't aligned properly. Overall, the quality has reduced since my last review.
This iteration of this app is quite good. All major issues have been addressed, and there is now nothing that can stop me from enjoying this magazine.
I like the writing and articles.
So how exactly do I get the Black Friday sub deal? $17 for 12 months. I already have 8 months to go but want to extend by 12 more.
If you love motorcycles you should be reading this magazine. Has the greatest range of information on motorcycling and the most informative. Always love seeing a new issue arrive.
Bike used to be the gold standard. Crashed and burned around 2010. Coming back strong and getting better every year now. Still way too much coverage of Adventure bikes and sub 500cc models though. But while the content and writing are top notch, the app itself is a little irritating. Landscape only. Could we please have a portrait orientation too? Everybody else seems able to do it. Mike Armitage and Chris Northover are the twin gods of moto journalism - and Bike has one of them!
Broken after iOS 8 update. Can't access at all. Please fix.
The writing and pictures are as good as you will find anywhere, often better. There are nice extras, bits of video and such. However, navigation and selection is a mess, and landscape only viewing is a hassle.
I like the app. It takes great advantage of the ipad. All the mag content seems to be present, but in an interactive form. Wish more e-mags would follow suit.
