Decent app. A lot of exercises with tracking, which is great. Unfortunately only syncs with about 1/3 of Apple Watch workouts, which is what tracks BPM and calories burnt, so half or more of your daily workout could end up not recorded and not factored into your calorie allowances. Also doesn’t account for calories burned during daily activities. So if I walk 9-10 miles and burn 800-1000 calories at work, which I do often as a chef, that isn’t logged. Huge issue. Plus the meal choices are EXTREMELY limited. Would lead to a very boring lifestyle for most. Used for a while but will probably be cancelling my subscription and switching soon due to these issues. Sad but it is what it is
I have been using this app for over a year, and I have loved it. After a run or a bike ride, I could do a quick strength training workout. I could specify the amount of time, what equipment I had, and what parts of my body I wanted to work, and it would give me a workout with a variety of activities. With the most recent update however, I can no longer do that. I have to choose pre-programmed workouts, and I have to do three repetitions of each one. I don’t like the new format and I miss the old feature. I may not renew next time my subscription comes around.
When I purchased this app last year the workout videos would turn with your phone’s movements, now they don’t. What good is a app that doesn’t allow your phone to sit panoramic so you can see the workout when you’re working out? Please fix this issue, I’ve sent you two emails in two weeks and no response. I will be canceling my subscription until further notice.

I have many mixed feelings about fitness buddy (I use the + version). I have been using the app since 2012 (crazy!) fairly consistency (close to daily) and I used to love it. It has an extensive library and it was simple and efficient to use. However, over time the app has continued to evolve in ways that sacrifice user experience and almost every notable change has made my own experience and use cases worse. I went from loving it, to accepting it, to having to use it because I have a lot of time/history invested on it, to getting frustrated with every major update. I still get value out of the app but it’s now far from a positive experience. I don’t say that lightly and I don’t really ever post reviews but here is a list of things that have gotten worse with this app (at least the ones I remember right now). the sorting of workouts used to be simply alphabetical and then it was changed to something else I don’t fully understand but basically requires you to just rely on search the grouping of activities used to group all activities of a given group (e.g barbell biceps curls) but now there are multiple seemingly arbitrary groups for the same activity and one has to go through all of them to find the desired activity. I used to be able to use filters like “bodyweight” but at some point it stopped including workouts like “bodyweight chinup / pullup” so I had to stop using that and instead type the specific words on search. (this one hurts me quite a bit) switching to another app often causes the workout to get stopped arbitrarily. My flow is (or used to be, see more below) to got to the workout history page, clone it, re add comments (to continue my currently active workout) and then delete the one that got prematurely stopped. (this one also hurts me quite a bit) even though I use the app every day, the images of the workouts are not cached, and where I go to the gym sometimes has spotty connection and so I can’t really see what the workout is about because it doesn’t have the thumbnail images (I end up having to open the app at home and literally scroll through all the workouts so it can load the images, and then put the phone on airplane mode so it doesn’t start acting strangely). (this one is just annoying) I get a pop up with an invasive rage screen all of a sudden (to upgraded to some other plan) and often times the orange screen pops up many times simultaneously and I end up having to dismiss it like 10 or more times in a row. (this one is baffling) A while back, I used to be able to just find an exercise in the main tab and add it to the currently active workout, but this always fails (instead I have to open the active workout, add the exercise from the option there that says “add new exercise” which means having to recreate the search/filters every time). I thought this would just be a bug that would get addressed quickly but it’s been I think years now and it hasn’t changed. (nit) The back swipe gesture doesn’t work (have to tap on the arrow on the top left) (this one prompted me to write the review) I rely on the workout history page quite a bit to make sure I sequence and space out my workouts and it used to be pretty accessible (on tap), then it got buried in a secondary tab, and now after the latest upgrade I haven’t been able to find it anywhere (the only alternative I can find is some calendar view thing that doesn’t work wee for just quickly scanning the recent workouts). Note that I’ve reported most of this over time through the feedback options but it hasn’t help. Over the years I’ve adjusted to less efficient ways to using the app but it just keeps going in the wrong direction. I have to say that every time I see an upgrade I get hopeful that some of these would get addressed but instead if there’s any change it’s always been for a worse experience at least for how I use the app (and I just happen to use it every day so it’s particularly painful). I’ve continued using it over the years for it’s extensive library and because I have way too much history (plus the export functionality has a bug and doesn’t really export my history properly) but at this point I might need to reconsider again. Maybe I’m not the target user base anymore (I’m not interested in all the food or transformation stuff that is now being pushed) but it’s worth considering core users with simple but I imagine common/frequent use cases. Please take this as well-intended feedback. I’ve been a loyal user to the app but I just keep getting disappointed.
I have had this app for several years. A few weeks back it started removing all but the first exercise from my workout sessions (so I’ll show 42 minutes worth of workout time for one set of dumbbell presses). I thought maybe the latest update would correct this, so I downloaded it only to realize all but the most very basic of exercises are “locked” and can’t be added to any workouts. I bit the bullet and paid for a year subscription. Curiously, there a bunch of ads now popping up for other Azumio apps and services. Mostly just cluttering the process of trying to get a workout in. ...and the app STILL removes all but the first exercise in my workout sessions. This USED TO BE a really good app, but there are some updates necessary to get it back to satisfactory status.
I enjoyed the cardio , which is gone. Canceling my subscription
I updated the app today and I noticed something, the home workout option which includes a cardio option is gone. Personally I enjoyed that version, it is the one that makes me lose weight the most because I do not have equipment of any kind. Not pleased with this and I am canceling my subscription today.
When I first got the app, it was exactly what I needed. The first few updates were good, but the last few have been horrendous. They have dropped a number of the workouts and added a lot of fad exercises that don't produce results. They also constantly interrupt your exercise with ads to buy the "premium plan". The latest update has significantly reduced the number of workouts available unless you purchase their “premium plan”. Find another app or download one off the internet.
I have used this app now for about a year. It does a good job of organizing workouts. A couple of things bother me though: I’m given the option to log my location at the end of the workout but FB cannot locate my location even after entering in exact location information. Another thing is that it is annoying to be told my 1 minute of rest time is over, AFTER the workout is completed.
