Disappointed in USA Today

I used to be able to at least skim the news on this sight but now they only write for their SUBSCRIBERS. I guess I’ll just go back to being ignorant. I am not paying for something that used to be free.

Subscription ads before articles

I used to read USAToday a lot but ever since they implemented the aggressive add campaign, I’ve stopped opening the app. You immediately get hit with a subscribe ad. Open an article, there’s another ad. Then there are the ads throughout the article that you have to scroll past. Now it seems like half of the stories are for subscribers only. If you want access to all stories, that’s $9.99/month. However that still includes ads. If you want an ad-free experience, we’ll then that’s $12.99/month. Why is USAToday more expensive than the NYTimes? Or Apple News? This Is not a plug, but you could pay less or the same for Apple news and have access to many more publishers. I wish them good luck, but am deleting the app.

Bye bye

USA TODAY used to be my go to app for news. Fast and good and usually no VPN necessary. Slowly we have drifted away from each other. They need to make money, which is cool, me too, I understand. However now like 80% of the content is for subscribers only and so I have to scroll and scroll to find something readable. Problem is that the quality with USA TODAY was never that high anyway unlike Time and Forbes etc., who themselves constantly make spell check errors and language usage errors. Hey me too, I feel for you guys but nobody’s paying me not to do that. They’re not worth paying for either, because well, nobody reports news anymore either, they just editorialize. I don’t want to give money to have my head molded when I can get that anywhere else for free. Are there even editors anymore? Ah well. I imagine they get some money from all those ads pretending to be news articles. And the ads. Off the soap-box. I have no need for finger exercises so bye bye USA TODAY, I wish you the best. Delete.

I don’t get an app

When I go to Apple or Google play to download, all we get is an open button yet there is no icon on the phone so if you close the open window you have to repeat the steps. This is kind of worthless.

Aggressive Ad UI

Advertising dialogs have made it almost unusable, similar to the era of browser pop-ups.
