RainAware relies on National Weather Service radars and may not work properly if a radar is down or if the beam is blocked by mountains. In rare instances, ground clutter may result in a false positive for rain at your location. Extremely light sprinkles or drizzle may not always be detected. Precipitation times will change as RainAware adjusts to rapidly changing weather conditions. Precipitation can form suddenly or dissipate at any time. Works best when precipitation is moving. Times are estimates and have inherent error. Advanced settings are there to mitigate these issues.
Compared Cleveland airport and Weather Bug to this app on wind speed: former two: 35 and 37 mph. This app: 49 mph.
The rain clock isn’t working. Tried to get support but no response at all. Have been using this app for almost 7 months.
I ride a motorcycle and I am not fond of getting wet this app keeps me from getting wet a lot. Thank you for this app
The updating rain time takes a very, very, very long time.
12/27/18 - Problem described below continues. Very helpful app when working properly but frequently, takes a very long time to load (retrieve any information). Not very reliable.
A group of eight to fifteen men eat breakfast most mornings at the local restaurant. This app has attracted lots of attention when I open the app and say that the rain will start within X number of minutes......remarkably...I am usually correct.
More times than not it’s been raining, heavy and the app shows it dry at my location with no rain expected over the next three hours. It’s been raining for 2 days at my location and it can’t get it right. A waste of time installing it.
The look and feel of this app is superb, in my opinion. It is clean and free of clutter, while making access to the core information instantaneous. As to accuracy...well, its a weather forecast, folks. Any meteorologist will admit there is art as well as science in the profession. Im not sure what RainAware uses as its data source(s), but I have found it at least as accurate as NWS, Accuweather, etc. The link to radar imagery allows the user to draw their own conclusions as to the adequacy of the forecast. RainAware fills a very specific niche, providing ultra short term predictions.
Essential effective comprehensive app and service
I love weather apps like this, but too many times this app is just way off during obvious rain. Today this app said there is no rain for the next few hours, when in fact it already started raining. I finally decided to delete the app after many incorrect predictions.
