Been using this app for about 5 years now. Creating set lists, auto scrolling the lyrics are a breeze. Looks much more professional than paper lyrics or 3 ring binder.
I have been using OnSong for several years and I absolutely love it. I saw a couple of reviews saying there are too many features as if this were a negative thing. You can never have too many features. I would rather have the it and not need it than need it and not have it. This is one of the things I love about this app. It caters to the simplest of demands or to the most techno savvy user without one interfering with the other, so as you progress in your OnSong knowledge and comfort, there always are more features for you to explore. You can create a simple song library for you to browse through as needed, or you can use that same library to create a set list which operates as simple as turning the page of a book. If you want to get fancy you can add a Bluetooth pedal to turn your pages for you while keeping your hands free. You can either share this list or print it for band mates or sound technicians. You can add a scroll, backing tracks, notes, comments, etc. too many for me to mention. I do not typically write reviews, so for me to do so means I feel very strongly about this app. If you are thinking of getting it and you are reading reviews to get reassurance, then stop here, buy OnSong and don’t look back. You won’t regret it!!
Tried to get service because I keep getting blackouts. Paid the extra fo fast service. Non existence.
Doesn’t work 😢
OnSong has a ton of features. Like, a ton. While some are really useful, they add to the density and complexity of the product. You can have Libraries, Books within Libraries, and Setlists too. It can read straight PDFs, but mainly works using it's own text-based formatting and metadata system. This is really the charm of the app, as most other lyrics apps are really glorified PDF readers. With OnSong, I can edit song lyrics right in the app. While OnSong “syncs” in a manner to Dropbox, you can’t really use that feature to keep multiple devices in sync like other apps. It would be nice if OnSong used iCloud for real sync. Overall, I like OnSong and use it with several other band members in my projects. We all find it good enough, but kinda wonky, and we all get just a bit creeped out by how much the product is preconfigured specifically for the Christian church/worship market. I understand that that's where the money is at the moment, but it's been a bit off-putting to several friends as well.
This is a great app, but a bit over priced in my opinion. I was a little disappointed at all the up-charges required to make this usable. For $30, it seems like a slap in the face to ask for more money to unlock annotation! I really like the feature set, but there are much less expensive options that may work just fine for many users. Have to take one star only for the high price tag.
I’ve been looking forward to buying this app but when I went to buy it with my 2 App Store gift cards, it didn’t give me the option and now it charged my card for the full price, and they won’t give me the refund. I don’t usually write reviews but this makes me really crabby!!!
I spent days loading my song library onto my iPad and into OnSong only to discover later that once I got to 100 songs, every one I added deleted one. Hundreds of songs and days of work lost. Absolutely no support and that is after paying extra for expedited help.
I have a large music book with 500 songs in it. I discovered onsong and bought the external footpad and an iPad along with the onsong app and a drop box account. It has made things much better and I totally recommend it. It has really helped me with songs with a lot of lyrics. It also allows me to put my backing tracks with the lyrics and saves me time in between songs during a live show. I also like how you can add notes, change the key of a song and adjust the font size and chord size. Love it !
Not only does this app charge extra for pen support, the pen support is not working properly. When trying to write with the pen, the screen constantly zooms in and out (without my hand on the screen) making my note taking unproductive. Even if it did work, by charging extra for pen support you might have extracted that out of me but you have lost my recommendation to any other music team member I will ever work with.
