Folks don’t buy this app total unethical company. They offer you to buy the app and then they will make you buy their obd2 adapter which is at a ridiculous price and then they upgrade adapter so you have to buy it again or you can’t use the app and all of its functions. Then they charge you fees for various things you want to do on your car. Buy Foxwell, Torque plus, trust me as a 30 year BMWCCA member with many previous and current BMW’s.
I purchased the full version of the app a couple of years ago. It worked fine with my generic OBD reader. Now it won’t work at all unless I buy their OBD reader. Really? I don’t need to have all the features unlocked, I just need to be able to read and clear codes. Buyer beware!!! You will be nickeled and dimed.
this product doesn’t even work . I paid for the obd2 for my bmw that cost $95.00 then paid for the in app of $59.00 and it didn’t do anything what a waste of money
This app is great and all until it stops working for whatever reason. One day I was trying to code my FTRM module (the one that controls daytime running lights and such) and it just kept telling me that there is an error occurring. I tried contacting them 4 times and it’s been a pain to get a response out of them. When and if they did send a response, all it was, was the typical advice that you could pull from the website nothing more in detail. You would expect a company to do better given that you have to pay almost three times as much as competition brands like Bimmercode. And if anything, I think I might just give Bimmercode a shot because this is not working out for me at all.
Once to connect to your car the app is fine, looks and works fine. But the home screen (dashboard) and the ‘features’ page are terrible. Little stupid pictures and icons, which are all redundant buttons that have different descriptions but bring you to the same place. Strange awkward layout. ‘Add car’ feature is just unnecessary, and now I have like 6 cars that can’t seem to be deleted. This app looks like preschoolers video game. It’s so sad and aggravating to look at every time I load it up. Then you have to ‘restore purchase’ for full version every few days from the App Store, which requires you to disconnect from the Carly adapter after waiting minutes for it to connect. It’s just a piss poor design overall. They took and app that was so clean and simple before they managed to turn into this. Find a different brand to support and leave Carly behind.
I had an issue with the new version of the software not reading my car’s data correctly. Robert from the support team systematically helped to isolate and resolve the issue in an update to the software. Now it’s working great again! Thanks.
After the most recent update it stopped connecting to my 2008 (E65) 750i. The update prior to the most recent connected just fine until the update to fix connection issues with the 2004 models was pushed out. Please help.
I had researched the Carly app a few years ago when I was living in Greece. I planned on buying it but I ended up moving to Switzerland where I did not need my car so I left it in storage. I have now moved back to the US and shipped my car over. I bought another Carly adapter because I had lost my original one, and now I when I went to register a new battery I learned that it’s not a one time purchase like it used to be. Now you have to pay yearly which to me is absurd and over priced. Nice one Carly, you just dug your own grave. You will no longer have pure enthusiasts using this app, just yuppies and people who work at auto shops where the cost of 60$ is justified. Personally I read someone else post and review called “BMW North” he said he was a developer and trainer for Carly originally and recommended buying other OBD2 scanners, like BimmerCode, and they actually tell you which OBD2 scanners work with their app so you can choose. I just bought their app 32$ and a vgate OBD2 for 21. It’s still cheaper than buying a one year subscription for Carly. I also bought two of Carly’s adapters because I lost my first and I’m disappointed with the money I’ve wasted on a company which doesn’t care about their end users, especially the purist ones who will actually recommend the company to other users. Me personally and I know I speak for aleveryone who has feels they have been bent over by this company. I will go out of my way to make sure not a single person I know EVER buys this app until you return the one time fee. I’m even willing to pay more, but not 60$ per year. Then you know it will never end. Why not just make it 100$ per car? It doesn’t matter at this point, I am certain you will fall by the way-side and your reputation is completely ruined.
Hate to say it but this app has kicked the bucket in my eyes. Can’t pull any codes straight to my phone and can’t even use the stupid thing without an account? Seriously why do I need an account to pull data. It was fine the way it was. I paid over $100 dollars a back in the good days and now I basically have a $75 dollar paper weight...... That’s all just go back to the old app this new one is completely useless now.....
Boy, where do I start? If you need a reason to get a headache and just down right get mad for spending money on something that barely works, look no further! The Carly Adapter will mislead and trick you to think you can do all these cool things on this app and program your BMW like the pros! It’s hard to connect to the stupid adapter via WiFi. The app is buggy and the instructions aren’t very good either, stupid vague. I’ve never in the history of technology, have had issues like the one I’m facing with this stupid adapter/app. I’m just trying to read some codes and other things, can’t even do them because the adapter is crap. Not sure if anyone from Carly is gonna read this, but I am not pleased in any way, shape, or form.
