Why does the economist bother producing the audio edition when their apps make it so painful to access? It’s a shame because it was one of my favorite ways to consume the economist.
What’s happening with the product management here? Why do you have two apps? Why are you still issuing updates to the “legacy” app? Is this why your new app still doesn’t have feature parity? I’m sure you have a small dev team, but that doesn’t compensate for puzzling product choices that confuse and frustrate users
I just restarted my Economist subscription after a nine-month hiatus. I am extremely disappointed to return to this poorly functioning audio format.
Previous version was so much easier and more practical to select articles for audio. Also controls now taken away e.g. to go to the next article from lock screen, iwatch, control center - have to go back into app then audio menu. Really awful user design - especially as the earlier version had none of these issues. Absurd
The changes to audio are a step backward. The new system takes a lot more work to select and download stories. Even if you mark a story for the audio queue it doesn’t necessarily download, even if “available online” is turned on. And deleting the issue from the main page used to automatically delete the associated audio articles; now you have to go back and delete them manually. Can we PLEASE go back to the earlier version?
The new audio interface is much better. However, there is a bug - if you download audio offline it disappears the next time you open the app. It’s annoying to download “the queue” every time I want to listen/have audio files offline. Please fix! Thanks!
The selection of an article, to start, to pause, to rewind 15 seconds are not easy or possible. You need to create a playlist which takes too much time and it is messy if you move from one edition to another. It is not possible to see the text while you are driving. It is not a fire and forget type easy listening anymore. You need to hold it in your hand all the time to control what to do. They need to return back to previous version.
For the price this is unacceptable!
I say it’s my mistake to download this new version before reading all the reviews. Listening to the articles is my favorite when taking daily commute, now it’s all gone. Please give me back the old version.
Unable to express adequately how unintuitive, confused and useless the new audio interface is. Please have someone who actually uses the app try to fix it. Just going back to how it was would be a 100% improvement.
