Weather4D Lite is a powerful meteorological application based on atmospheric and oceanic data in GRIB format. It benefits from an interface derived from the “Routing & Navigation” version. View combined weather data displayed in 3D HD layers animated automatically or manually by sliding a finger on the screen. Use GFS model to get started. In addition, over 35 weather and oceanographic models are available with a yearly subscription (in-app purchase). Create your own geographical zones, select the models you need and download only the characteristics that matter to you: data type, resolution, periodicity, file size, etc. GRIB files can be downloaded anywhere through a regular or satellite internet connection. Split the screen (iPad only) to combine and/or compare: navigation and weather, weather and waves or currents, two weather models… The splitted screens can display charts at different scales. Create or import locations, combine them with GRIB forecast models and get a holistic view of the sea conditions. Default Models and Charts ———————————— GFS global forecast model at 0.25 °, 0.5 °, 1 ° and 2 ° resolutions. app keeps crashing on iphone7 plus. started only the first time.
We have been using this app for sometime helping plan passages on our sailboat. In addition I have been using it as part of my daily weather forecast given to the vessels in western Panama. One of the better ways to put gribfiles into an animated stream
This just became my favorite weather app. I already have multiple radar and GIB file apps. This puts it all together. It is not only the most powerful and comprehensive, it is by far the most visually rich. Takes a few minutes of getting used too, but well worth it. Thanks to the development team! Marko
This is a wonderful app! As a pilot and flight instructor I use this app for long term prediction. The graphical interface has almost limitless settings for including or removing visible data. I have been disappointed by every weather app I've downloaded, until this. Lives on my home page. (Did the negative reviewers even understand the most basic aspects of weather prediction?) If you want simple idiot mode weather, most other apps will be fine. If you want beautifully depicted graphical prediction models, this is it.
New version fails to open on ipad.
Feel and looks gimmicky.
This is without a doubt a great weather app. In fact, I’ll go as far as saying that it’s the best that I’ve seen. I’ve downloaded many different weather apps and this one has become my favorite. It combines a lot useful information, which is typically viewed separately from multiple sources; I especially like how I can view a lot of important data over-laid at the same time, in a very efficient manner. The user interface is also very intuitive making the app easy to use. Prior to owning this application I found myself switching back and forth between different types weather maps. The only feature that I hope will someday be added is a way to overlay the numerical value of ocean wave heights, currently ocean wave period predictions can be viewed but wave heights can only be viewed via color gradients. I believe that anyone who needs to, or simply enjoys, forecasting the weather will love this app.
Do not buy this app. All forecast are very vague and it only offers about a third of world. Complete waist of money!!!!!
Weather4D is a beautiful app for examining output from the NOAA Global Forecast System (GFS), which is the basis for most U.S.-based weather forecasts. The user interface is elegant on both the iPhone and the iPad and has many thoughtful features, such as the land and sea masks and the way, when looking at further out forecasts, that the clock icon is shaded in proportionally to the time since the model was run. I haven't encountered any bugs, and I appreciate that app comes with a comprehensive user guide. One thing that I would like to see added is the option to display scale bars for the shading (e.g., the temperature scale corresponding to the temperature shading). Overall, however, Weather4D is a wonderful app.
This app is just great. Multi layered weather information is very convenient. Specific coverage definition makes it tailor made. No bugs so far, works like a charm.
