The text can be changed to dark, but menu bar and status bar are still white. Looks ridiculous and distracting. I payed money to buy books from Amazon and cannot get a proper app to read them.
Tried updating through app store and amazon website but certain books said they still required an update despite the fact that I clearly had the newest version, amazon support was also unhelpful.
All options in the view drop-down are greyed out, so I guess I can't use them. No way to view two pages at once so it makes textbook reading unbearable
The Kindle app doesn't follow simple OSX design guidelines, it's buggy, and incredibly clunky to use. Almost as if it had been designed to be frustrating. Import ebooks? Nope. Some books from your library are just... not availble for this version, and won't show up in your Library. All around it's a very frustrating app.
I resisted upgrading the Kindle app until the OS no longer supported it. Previously it worked and I was happy. Since upgrading the app, EVERY link inside EVERY book is non-functional. Being unable to navigate books, especially cookbooks, only by turning pages makes this app too painful to use. I guess I'll be buying my books from Apple's Books store going forward. WTG Amazon.
I am not sure why this app has such bad reviews. Infact, I am wondering if its another company paying people to put those bad reviews. I personally LOVE kindle. I devour so many books every month through Kindle Unlimited and its so easy to use this app on my phone. I prefer paperback books but when I dont have those I read books through KU. I rated this app 5 stars because it gives me almost everything I want and desire in a book; a great story, great authors, great variety of books to choose from, the reliability of the app working, you get AUDIBLE features of so many books so not only do you get a wonderful experience reading the book you also get A NARRATOR reading a book too!! Thats just amazing. Truly and utterly amazing. The ONLY thing I wish this app would provide and I know its impossible is a physical book with the paper smell that I oh so love to stick my nose into. Thats not going to happen. But its still 5 stars. Might not be a physical book but I love this app and the books I get to read for a great price.
So, I replaced my hard drive. Very simple to do, backup and restore using SuperDuper. Kindle app starts, shows me my library (every volume Downloaded), but any book I try to read in my library, Kindle says “Preparing your book”, followed by “The book could not be opened. Please remove the book from your device and redownload it.” Apart from it being an utter waste of time to re-download every book (one by one), what if I had been somewhere with no internet service? And, “remove the book from your device and redownload”. What an utterly STUPID program. I have to click and click and click and click to get it to do that? Whoever programmed it is only smart enough to display the message? If they know that they need to "remove the book from the library and re-download it", why doesn’t the program just do it? (That is what is called a rhetorical question. The answer is: the program is stupid.) No wonder this app has two stars in the app store1
This app says no Wi-Fi while connected to Wi-Fi on my MacBook Pro 15" 2016.
Seems there's no way to hide the top panel, the bottom progress bar and the left search margin bar. Couldn't understand why they couldn't just make it like the iPhone app. This is totally designed by 1995 era microsoft, strongly Bill Gates taste.
so freaking crappy
