Been a proud Plex user for the past 8 years. Of course, I’ve had my fair share of complaints about the service. But their recent improvements have been phenomenal. The best way to consume content. Period.
Music: 1) “STUDIO” should read “LABEL”. This is silly. 2) albums used to show Title and Year below - now they show Artist and Title. No year?? This must be a mistake. Makes browsing my library miserable. Please bring back the feature that allows me to drag down and enlarge background art. The way it’s working now feels very broken. Not enjoying what has happened to the UI at all. Sharing: Apparently there’s a new “Shared” menu item. I’ve been testing it with my another home device. Now I have a list of shared items that won’t go away. There has to be a better way of doing this. **I want my friends to get a Notification from Plex on their phone that says something like “Bob share a song with you: Such&Such Band - Best Song Ever”, and when they tap on it, it opens Plex and goes right to the song and starts playing it.**
I’ve been a long time user of Plex, but I’m incredibly disappointed in their recent decision to start charging people to play back content from their own library on their own devices. I’ll be looking at options to migrate away from Plex and will no longer recommend it to others.
6/4/2020- folders broken, can’t sync individual video folders, new update has it laggy
Before you pay money for this service, go read their support forums to see if you want to pay money and get the support for problems like some do. I wish I had.
Plex has been so good to me and my family
Super shady to throw out an update that completely breaks the app unless we shell out a $5 in-app purchase, especially at a time like this when many companies are putting their content up for discounted prices to make it easier to cope with shelter in place orders. That said, Plex is a great interface for your downloaded movies and shows. Performance, features, and the convenience of it are all awesome. It’s worth $5... but it feels dirty having it sprung on you like that. Nothing about it in the update description. Wish I didn’t have automatic updates on.
I pay these guys for an annual subscription; the server doesn’t record, the iOS app won’t connect. Save your money for netflix
Any home theater enthusiast MUST have this app installed on all devices!
I love this app. It is immaculate, and quite exquisite.
