I have been a paying group owner for 6 years. Had my wallet stolen, had to cancel my CCs, missed a monthly payment and they sold my groups to someone else!!!! SOLD MY GROUPS. I’ve paid hundreds of dollars into these groups, built them, all have 5 star reviews. Photos of me teaching them, all the photos I took are still on the pages and they just let anyone take over the groups and are now pretending to be me. There’s no support ticket for this. No number to call. Nothing. WARNING. THEY WILL JUST TAKE YOUR GROUPS AND LET ANY STRANGER RUN THEM.
Love your app my therapist told me about this and I jumped on it ASAP. Been married for 33 years and very unhappy . Trying to find myself and find nice people to meet and be around. Well this is the place to be. I would highly recommend the meet app for everyone. Loved the hike I was on all the people I meet we’re just great to be around. Dave
Meetup.com uses push notifications from this app to advertise paid events not related to any group I’m in. This is an automatic 1-star review for me.
The obnoxious amount of spams every time I say yes to a group activity or join a group and there are at least five spams is ridiculous. UPDATE. I did the review after the developer spammed me an email asking me to rate it. After I submitted the review, I get another email saying, we could fix that but we don't have your account info. Oh come on, you are able to inundate me with advertisements, but don't know my info. Funny, you knew it enough to sell it. UPDATE 2: now I received an email telling me I can stop the spam the editing my email settings but that doesn't fix the issue of every time you RSVP or join a group you get pop ups on your phone saying you qualified for this and you qualified for that and you can get this discount and that discount from multiple third-party advertisers. they should probably just leave well enough alone at this point and stop messaging me if they're not going to actually address reality
To say this app is poorly designed and act like that was the main problem would be doing a huge disservice to their exceptionally incompetent dev team. This app seems to stop working every time Apple updates their software and emailing their tech support general results in you getting a reply a week later asking if you can try again using Chrome. You explain for the fourth time that you using the app isn’t the issue, the issue is your group members not being able to sign up for your events. I run two groups with a combined total of over 4000 members. I can exactly go to all of their houses and tell them to try a different browser and maybe they will be able to sign up for the event I am hosting. Though it’s always fun to wait a week to hear back from Meetuo’s tech support only to have them ask if I am signed in to the app or I I know the basics of how to use an app that requires users to log-in. It’s really a bummer as it couod have been a great app but unfortunately their tech support team is a giant iceberg and it’s sinking fast with all of the event hosts scrambling for the life-boats.
Great way to meet people and do things.
I first used Meetup in my home state after a divorce to connect with others who share common interests such as playing cards, watching favorite teams, etc. Upon relocating to a new state, I amped up my site activity to keep myself busy & make new friends. Meetup made the transition to a new home much easier and fun. Ultimately it led to meeting the new love of my life. I highly recommend Meetup for anyone going through a significant life change or just to make new friends!
Please fix the bugs
The app has a few critical flaws, it desperately Needs a groups and Calendar view! I miss out on events all the time because they are full, and when I get email well in advanced I have to use the web because the app can't isolate to a group view or a calendar view!! Also it sometimes does not show a price when there is a fee, there needs to be a Free vs Fee flag, with payment notes and links!! I really think Meetup is a great company, and I know that the new parent company is trying to make investments – the most critical should be software development for the platform, and just bringing it up-to-date – and figuring out a way to make stronger integrations with other platforms. it would be awesome to be able to use media and have video intros for a group video messages from the organizer, etc. etc. – they really just need to think of the mobile experience as a way to revitalize the company and the platform simultaneously.
No one to contact to get this fixed.
