Consistently high quality journalism, fiction and humor. Beautifully formatted for digital.
The app used to the spot in the article you were reading. After an update no longer saves it. Frustrating to accidentally scroll to next article and have to find place in article over and over.
I have had to delete and download this app more than any other magazine app.
I love this magazine but the last 2 animated cover issues crash my ipad. Granted, it’s an older model, but I only use it to read. Don’t want to have to buy a new ipad just to read a magazine... They really need to fix this.
Doubling down on this: it’s very handy to have New Yorker on your phone. The new navigation system, with the table of contents immediately available is a nice improvement. But if you are in the middle of a long article (hello, it’s the New Yorker) and you accidentally flip to a different article, when you flip back, the article resets to the top. It didn’t do that in the prior version. Very frustrating
How have the designers of this app not considered the capability to maintain progress in an article as a necessity? This is supposed to be a MAGAZINE, with thorough and lengthy articles. Surely I’m not going to read an entire piece in one sitting. Sure, you can “bookmark” the article. But this is a misnomer that no editor should accept. A bookmark is for maintaining progress in a piece of reading. This does not do this. Instead, you have to try to remember your place, scroll down and scanned the words you have already read (if you can remember) and hopefully find a rough estimate of where you left off. For a serious journalistic publication, this oversight is inexcusable. It’s as if the people who designed this app have never had the experience of reading a magazine or any lengthy piece of writing.
I started by looking at the funny covers and searching the magazine for the cartoons. not finding them very funny. At 62 it is a gift to read language that has a modicum of critical thinking, that opens my mind, that stretches my beliefs, and that ipenly fights for respect, tolerance. The whole delivered with taste. Thank you.
Love the app. Login will is not easy and has to be repeated too often. Once you’re in, it’s very good. Recent changes to the cartoon contest were a stap backwards. Was super easy.now kind of befuddling
The bug of not returning to the spot one left off in a story is still going on even though many have complained about it. It ruins an otherwise excellent magazine, and has put me on the verge of canceling. Does the app team for the New Yorker even read these or the feedback sent in by email? Gotta admit that I’m feeling a bit undervalued as a consumer.
