Moneydance helps you take your finances mobile by making account balance updates and transaction entry portable. Moneydance is designed to enable quick and painless entry of receipts and transactions while you are out and about, with immediate, end-to-end encrypted syncing (via Dropbox or iCloud) to Moneydance on your Mac or PC. The desktop version of Moneydance is required to use this app, which can be downloaded for Mac, Windows, or Linux from moneydance.com Moneydance uses strong AES encryption in addition to Dropbox and iCloud's built-in security to ensure your finances are heavily protected while syncing.
Simple interface, allows me to search and update transactions on the fly.
I was excited to install this on my new iPad, but am disappointed to see that it doesn’t include investment and liability accounts. It appears that this app only supports checking and credit card accounts.
I have had the desktop software since 2015 and it's very useful and stable. However, the app is not. There's no way to see which items are marked cleared yet and I cannot see my investment accounts or loans. It's basically there to enter data if you use your checking, savings or credit. Not what I was hoping for and I will delete it.
The $50 i paid for the app has saved me so much money! I was able to build a bill calendar on my PC app that gives me a month view of when bills are due and when paydays are. Me and my wife have the phone app and it makes doing the checkbook a breeze! We used to have 5 or 6 overdraft fees a month because we didnt do a checkbook. I havent had an overdraft fee in 3 years and am way ahead on my bills now. Thanks Moneydance, this app has saved me thousands of dollars in fees and I no longer stress out about my finances!
I have used Moneydance since 1999, before they even had an app on the phone. My wife and I love it!
Review Up-Date: Previously I rated this app a “5”, but not anymore. Not sure exactly what or why someone made changes to the sync function, but the changes need to be reversed and put back to the way it previously was. During the past month to 6 weeks, the app (both iPhone and iPad) has started locking up while entering transactions; failing to sync, or taking a long time to sync; and now opens to the first account in the list instead of the last account used. I am still using the same sync method as I have used for the past 10+ years (Dropbox), and never had issues like I am currently experiencing. The entire purpose of the mobile app is to be able to enter transactions on the go, and then have the transactions appear in both the desktop and other mobile device(s). Please figure out the problem(s) and fix it/them. This from a fully paid user. Thanks!!! (Previous Review) I have used the desktop version of Moneydance for a number of years. The iPhone App works just as described with no problems. IF you set up the sync as instructed, the sync works every time. I set it up to work with an iPhone and iPad, and both have worked as expected. No issues. Yes, the App does close after sync'ing, which it is designed to do because you already have the Moneydance Desktop version open - which is required in order to sync. I have used the App now for three (+) weeks and have not had a single issue with entering purchases or payments. One improvement I would like (which has nothing to do with the working of the App as currently designed), is the ability to use "Tags" when entering data. I have filed a support ticket requested this function be added to future versions.
I’m the past month I can’t enter but ONE transaction at a time then need to kill the app and restart it for the next transaction. If I don’t as soon as I try to enter another transaction the app locks up. Also, it now always says syncing. I’ve never been able to switch from Dropbox to ICloud sync either. One would think they would just include a toggle for it in ICloud settings like other developers do. Last, EVERYTIME I do a reconciliation it loves to move a random deposit to a payment category for no particular reason. It’s done this for a few years.
It’s been a pain to sync forever, but it was still usable and decent. With the latest update it became totally unusable. Trying do even one transaction is a lesson in patience and frustration.
Biggest issue we have had is there is no sync button so while you enter something it doesn’t show across the devices, which is what my husband and I need. My newest issue is I had to delete the app - now it crashes every time I try to sync with Dropbox
This App is totally worthless. Don’t bother to download. It doesn’t do anything.
