FINAL FANTASY Initially released in Japan in 1987, the original FINAL FANTASY amazed audiences with its rich story and stunning graphics. Players guide the Warriors of Light as they set out on a quest to restore the crystals to their former luster. Its side-view battles, choice and promotion of character classes, and sprawling world explored with fantastic vehicles quickly became standards of the series. This game set the stage for all FINAL FANTASY games to come. This release also contains the bonus dungeons added to later editions of the game--the Soul of Chaos and the Labyrinth of Time. Additional Information (reference only): ESRB Rating: E10+ with Mild Fantasy Violence and Suggestive Themes * This app is not compatible with "FINAL FANTASY (Portal Version)."
The game hasn’t aged so well, but is still worth playing for nostalgia and to see what started this whole series and saved Square. However, the controls for the iPad version are quite poor - you will frequently struggle with them. So I took a star away for that.
I love all of them. I also have all of the final fantasy games on my ps vita from 1-10 including 10-2. I would really like to see Final Fantasy VIII to be available on the phone. This is actually my main reason for leaving a post. I have no idea who to ask to encourage to do this so I hope they get this message...Ff8 for the iPhone!! Hoorah!
I just wanted to re-emphasise the fact that $quare Enix completely botched this version of the RPG that revolutionised all future video-games: you can only move one space to the right at once (moving in all other directions is fine), the picture quality is awful, and the framerate is at a snail’s pace. If you’re contemplating getting the Android version: don’t bother, even though it’s graphically superior, several features have, for whatever dumb reason, been stripped out, including the pause menu’s title screen button, the bestiary, and the famous ship-board 15-puzzle that has existed since the very beginning. $8 absolutely wasted!
That’s it, nothing special.
Seeing how this is the port of the 20th Anniversary PSP version, I expected it to play as such, and at least have the same (if not better) performance. The first thing you’ll notice right off the bat is the resolution, or rather how blurry it is. I don’t know if it’s somehow possible to make the game any more high definition, but if it can, that’d be great. The next thing you’ll notice is the frame rate. It’s choppy and slower than the PSP version, and it’s very noticeable. The PSP version runs so much smoother and looks so much better, that sometimes I prefer to just dust off my PSP and play it there. The next thing is a minor nitpick, but still needs to be addressed. We all know how FF1 is a grind fest. With that being said, the PSP version allowed you to enter a battle, and just hold the X button, essentially turning each battle into auto mode. The iOS version doesn’t have an auto feature, nor does it allow you to make the battles faster. All you can really do is tap each enemy twice, and wait for each character to finish attacking. Again, small nitpick, but that’s just me. Other than that, this is still a great game, and will always be in my Top 5.
I was reluctant to buy this game because of the negative reviews, however I decided to just try it out for myself and I am having absolutely no issues with the controls or gameplay. The game has not been updated to fit the longer iPhone X screen, however the game is in no way too small to play. I’m thoroughly enjoying this version of the game.
This port may have been better on older iOS devices, I have no idea. But today, in TYOOL 2019, this port is truly awful. An NES emulator with a Final Fantasy ROM would be infinitely better. The fact that I paid cash for this awful excuse of a port is even more upsetting, and I encourage people not to do the same. Find another way to play this classic, because this one is barely playable.
Hey guys. I love the FF series. I bought this game on my iPhone 3G and I was so happy to have it. Since then square has published so many FF games and perfected the controls to give a better mobile experience. However the controls on this and FF2 have remained the same. Please update the controls like you did in FF5. I can’t even play this game anymore as the controls (especially battle controls) are taxing to use and take away from the overall experience. Please do something square!
The game will not allow me to change classes in the creation screen. Names save but I can not change from the default character list.
Ive been playing for at least 30 minutes and realized that there wasnt any sound (id been playing with my volume all the way down until i wanted to hear the music) and what happened to a majority of the configuration options? Itd be nice to at least change the menu color like you could on the psp version, i personally would appreciate a patch with the missing feature and for sound to work on my iphone xs max, thanks...
