I don’t normally leave ratings, but I am beyond frustrated with Venmo. They have had no one running customer service and determined that simply closing it for over a month so far is good business. My account has been locked for no reason and there is no one available to help trouble shoot. Such a disappointment.
Venmo customer service offers a phone number but doesn’t do phone support. If you accidentally send money to the wrong person. It’s GONE unless the person returns your money. Your only way to get your money back is to dispute the charge with your bank or credit card but even if they tell you in writing that this is ok, they will freeze your account unless you return the money. Reply: To be clear I went through ALL the right/recommended channels. I contacted support via chat and email. I was told to contact the other person because we know each other outside of Venmo. I do not have her contact information, never friended her on venmo and she responded that she doesn’t use Venmo or have an account. I sent them all this information. I was told the only way to unfreeze my account is to pay venmo the money (I disputed it with my bank). I will not be paying MY money to venmo. It was clearly a mistake as my notes are clearly to someone else. Their phone support doesn’t accept calls anymore. So their policy is.. if the other person can’t return the money that Venmo keeps money if you accidentally send it and you can only get it back via a charge back + never using the app again. I specifically asked support if my account would be frozen or if I could use my account still after a chargeback. I was told I could do a chargeback. Afterwards my account was frozen and I was told I’d have to pay the money back to unfree my account. Can’t recommend Venmo. I understand them not wanting to be moderators but I immediately messaged them about my issue. I did all the right steps and wasted lots of tome because their online chat support drops messages after so much time. Do not use this app. I doubt they will not help you or get any better support. My last use was 01/2021.
20 minutes and I still can’t find out how to cancel.
Every setting is defaulted to zero privacy. They want your payments public, your phone contacts, your Facebook contacts and your location. You need to diligently change all settings to protect your privacy. Their mentality is sick.
Wow. I’m blown away by how horrible Venmo’s costumer service is. I received a payment request by someone who had stolen my sisters name and photo- my sis and I do this a lot so I wasn’t thinking when I hit pay. She called shortly after and told me it wasn’t her. I proceeded to try to get in contact with Venmo (which is IMPOSSIBLE) but they had no live support due to high call volume. I emailed, and their reply was obviously automated placing the blame on me for being tricked and then told me to call my bank. I did call my bank. The money had not been debited yet, so I place a hold on Venmo, not allowing any money to be debited until I could reach costumer service. I spent a week trying to get a hold of them- no live support available that whole time. Then I received an email telling me I had not paid the 300 dollars SO THEY COVERED ME AND NOW I OWE THEM. I have been in an email battle with them for weeks and now they are telling me they will prosecute me if I DONT PAY THE PERSON THAT INTENDED TO STEAL FROM ME. I’m outraged, in disbelief, and still have not spoken to someone on the phone- just robots. Can’t wait to end this saga and delete my account forever.
Twice an atm messed up and didn’t give me my money, but the money was taken out of my venmo account, and when I asked for assistance, was told they opened a case and nothing came of it, never got my money back, be wary, use small amounts
Hard to figure out
Before they send you a card like cashapp you have to verify your address. I have 2 addresses, mailing and physical. When I put my address in while opening my account I used my physical address, not knowing I would have to verify my address with mail sent to me. My mail gets sent to my PO Box because we don’t have a mail carrier in our town. Tried using label from UPS sent to physical address, nope it can’t be a handwritten label. Emailed customer support, got an automated message that had no bearing on my question. Tried to change address on file, absolutely no way to do that. Finally remembered I used both addresses on bank account so screenshotted statement, nope. Have sent that about 10x only to be denied because it’s supposedly not clear enough. Finally spoke to a person (I think) through chat, to be told there is absolutely nothing I can do other than keep wasting my time trying. Submitted once more tonight. After this if it’s denied I will be closing my mouth and will completely trash Venmo on every platform I can. I’ll end up sticking with Cashapp, no verification needed there!!!!
Great aspirations for Venmo user to send and receive money
