listen i know youre having money problems, but 2 minutes of ads every, like, 3 songs is ridiculous.
I love you 8tracks and i understand the ads, i dont mind a 15-30sec ad about the new year’s plastic bin sale at homedepot. But im begging you please please dont squeeze a [promoted trash rap artist and his $h*#ty thoughts about his cheating sl*tty gf and his shady drug deals gone wrong] in my *lofi *chill *sleep playlist mix while i sleep. It doesnt fit at all. Yech.
The app is overall great, but I just listened to the same advertisement 18 times in the last half hour. I have never hated jcpenny’s so much in my life. I almost want to delete the app for this. 8tracks needs to ad more advertisements and shorten them, so I’m not listening to two ads for a full 60seconds.
Just signed up and experienced my first Ad. Deleted this ap immediately.
and I renewed for another. 8tracks is a great app and is quite worth the money (which is not unreasonable). As it is today, I recommend this app. TO THE 8TRACKS TEAM: Please fix the app to be able to favorite a song from the lock screen. If we can see the song, artist name and fast forward a track, tapping a star should be available. I lose the opportunity to favorite while driving. That’s not cool, I’d like to be able to follow up on some of these songs when I’m off the road. I took a star away for this reason.
I have had an account for many years. It’s a truly unique streaming service where the focus is on creating playlists, and the music on the playlists is secret (typically). This allows me to discover new artists and new genres that I wouldn’t have normally decided to listen to. We’re all guilty of listening to the same 10 songs on repeat. 8tracks lets me break free from that cycle. I especially love the playlists that cater to specific fandoms (mostly anything you can think of, there’s a playlists for it. a certain video game, a character, a book... season...). They might not be my preferred music, but it gives me a sense to understand someone else’s interpretation of *insert whatever here*. At some point they imposed a listening limitation that made me stop using the app for awhile, but it seems to have been retracted. This is good, however, I think it’s about time I fork over $30 so i can listen to these playlists without Home Depot ads LOL. Truthfully, it’s a relatively cheap expense, and since I love this app so much I think it’s worth it. My recommendation? If you’re a nerdy, fandom-loving, need to find some niche subject to express via music, or simply an “indie” music lover, this is a great app. Download it and you’ll understand. If you aren’t any of those, there’s still plenty of playlists you can enjoy. Thanks 8tracks for the great times!
Great concept but could be better. Ads are annoying but of course they have to be in there so they can keep up with pandora and the like. It would be a lot better if you see the entire list of songs on whatever playlist you’re listening to. I would use it a lot more if that feature was added and would maybe buy the premium service.
Now, it has been awhile since I've used this app, probably since it's very early beginnings "when things were young, wild & free", BUT, not free anymore. I redownloaded the app because this is where through shared playlists I discovered some really cool music and new artists. Now, I can't even log in to use the app and I believe 8tracks has gone astray as so many others have and decided to start charging and become a subscription model, for what?? To listen to music through it at a price when I can use Pandora, Youtubes Music Channels my other music apps and a host of other ways , for free?? Screw this app and who needs it? It hasn't gotten very far and/or progressed or innovated since the last time I used it and as a matter of fact it's only gone negative by charging us to hear music per month.Not. This app is coming off my phone and never back on again.
I love the way the commercials are now it's really more enjoyable than the limited listening time. Something I would like request is if users can put playlist in different folders that are public to Users (maybe just like another tab on a person's profile) Also having back covers would be neat.
This has been my absolute favorite music platform since discovering it back in 2012. The user-generated model is such a great way to receive music one may have not considered before. More importantly, the search process is great. I love the ability to link moods together to find great playlists.
