I read the New York Times on this app. However, there are blue highlights on the headlines which are supposed to bring the article into a column for reading like a book. Today they don't bring in text. And other days they are not even there. Can't compete with the Washington Post Working better
The glitch with downloads has been fixed, and the new dark mode and layout are beautiful. Once again the best way to read newspapers from around the world. Thank you!
When I try to open downloaded files, the app closes. Why.......😭😭😭😭😭😭
latest version crashes on “downloaded” menu.... renders the app useless!!! “good job”!! unsubscribe to magazines download all 2 of the missing, but very necessary functions....Otherwise, thumbs up👍🏻 !
Be careful with this latest update. It does not allow now to check My downloads (so it will destroyed anything stored before and you can check anything downloaded to check offline. Terrible they do these things
It’s clear this latest release, version 6.1, was rushed out the without being adequately tested. It often crashes immediately upon launch. If you’re lucky enough to actually get into the app, it will definitely, 100% of the time, crash when the user taps on the Downloaded icon at bottom. Please do not deliver us buggy software that has clearly not been adequately tested.
The pleasure of electronically reading the newspaper in the paper form laid out by the editors with zooming and links to articles cannot be understated. It works wonderfully with smartphones and computers with pads that permit control with finger movement. It’s the closest one can get to having the actual newspaper replicated in your computer. PressReader still needs to improve the dependability of links jumping to articles and sections of the paper. This function does not always work. It could also be improved with an efficient search tool for finding articles and subjects. One final note. There are no obvious instructions for setting up the app, and using all the available tools. This is a failure of communication all too common today.
PressReader is a great app that I frequently forget about and then promptly return to, but also one that I really wish I could work into my daily and nightly routines. One major thing that keeps me from doing so is the lack of a dark mode. I’d like to take an hour to get away from the bright, loud, chaotic world and relax with my favourite magazine, ‘Deutsch perfekt’, before bedtime; however, there’s entirely nothing relaxing about having to read dark text on the glaringly white screen of my iPad. If the PressReader team could figure out how to invert text whilst keeping the design and images of the magazine or newspaper largely intact, that would be greatly appreciated!
I have used this app ever since it was first made available. I quit my newspaper subscriptions and paid them for this once wonderful app. The developers have made changes that are not consumer friendly. The changes I’m discussing are the ability to take a screen shot. I u defat and they are trying to combat people that are stealing and posting entire issues somewhere. I’m not doing that. But inagine you read an interesting article. In the old days I’d cut it out of the magazine and save it. Or an interesting recipe. Those are the things I screen shot. Clippings I’d like to save to reread or access later. I have paid them $30 a month for almost a decade. Well more than my USA Today subscription that I canceled for these folks. The developers took away the ability to save an article here or there. They are also stingy with downloads. Occasionally when traveling I will prepare for my flight or car ride by downloading a few dozen papers to access without using data. When you do this it will stop your favorite publications from downloading. And it will give you a warning that you are downloading a lot and you should buy their corporate plan. Tale my advice subscribe to Apple News Plus learn how to download the magazines there. These developers are not listening to their consumers and their price is not fair considering what you get elsewhere.
I have a premium subscription that is complimentary through my work. I use the app for The Denver Post. The paper is uploaded 2 to 3 times a week, so I’m missing the paper most days of the week. I would love to use and PAY several hundred dollars a year for this app if the paper would consistently load. As it is now I can see it would only be a frustration and a waste of money as it s now.
