I really regret upgrading to the latest version (by accident). The app now always loads in pure black mode no matter how many times I set the background to grey or others and turn off the “automatic dark mode”. And every time I open the app now, it starts to re-download the oldest articles and the ones I already deleted, which takes forever. And I have to try several times to send and re-send the new link to the app for downloading. It’s so frustrating I don’t want to open this app any more.
My #1 problem is you can't make lines longer. It's adjustable, but it caps at some point. Not great for large displays. There are not a lot of reasons to prefer this over web interface as long as you have internet connectivity.
What the heck
I'm very happy to see a native Mac app for instapaper as I have stuck with the app for many years now. But don't expect the same functionality as the iOS apps...yet? Can't highlight or copy text for some reason. Once it has the same functionality as the iOS app...then I'll update the start to 4 or 5. (I would love to know what my premium membership money goes towards)
The ability to quickly save/share from others apps to instapaper is buggy now and only shows up sometimes..
I was excited when I saw Instapaper was finally a Mac app. As a premium subscriber, I think the service is worth it and especially thought so after getting the Mac app. But now that I've used the Mac app for a fe days I see it's esentially a basic reader app and it lacks most of the basic features the website and iOS apps have, including: • you cannot highlight text in the Mac app • you cannot copy text in the Mac app • you cannot copy article links in the Mac app Other basic features for a desktop app that are lacking included: • the ability to create folders in folders Also, when you move an article to a folder, the folder you are moving it to is obscured by the article itself. All in all, I was happy to see Instapaper finally come to the Mac, but and dissapointed by its extreme lack of basic features.
Its here finally and I'm happy about that. Big issue is I cant seem to highlight from the app, Speed reading is fucntional at best. I would also love to be able to copy past/use RT click, etc. I'm sure this will get fixed, but for now i'm just happy to have a seporate desktop app.
Seems pretty good at first glance. My main gripe at this point is the maximum width of an article's body copy is way to narrow for a computer sized monitor. I understand the point of having a more narrow column, but I want the choice to adjust it to maximum screen width if I so desire.
This has become so integral to my workflow and the continued stability of the app keeps me using it. Now, with recent improvements and the avaliability of a Mac app as well, what's not to like?
I can’t believe I am paying for premium Instapaper and I still can’t find things I read more than a month ago! I’m outraged really Also the latest update completely broke sharing from third-party apps. Instagram is no longer an option when sharing links from other apps.
