It’s a beautiful day to be Alive! Alive is a fitness and wellness app by Whitney Simmons. Whitney has shared her fitness journey and workouts for many years and has now designed programming to help women with their journeys. Whitney is passionate about empowering women to shape the best versions of themselves mentally and physically. This app does just that with programs and daily workouts curated to challenge and push you to your limits, to help you get into the best shape of your life and reach your fitness goals. Alongside Whitney, Alive has brought on experienced trainer Libby Christensen! Libby specializes in strength training and has dedicated her program to our users with goals centered around gaining muscle and building strength! Alive was planned and designed to be as simple as possible and easy to use. Focusing specifically on the workout experience so you have confidence during your workouts. We are excited to continue improving and evolving the app with our Alive community in the process. Features Programs Alive includes 17 different programs to choose from based on your personal goals. When you join a program you are guided through a full schedule of workouts that span over several weeks. This takes any guesswork out and keeps you focused on your goals. Challenges Alive strongly believes your mental health is just as important as your physical health and has designed 30-day challenges where those intersect. Each challenge contains daily tasks, mindful mobility, workouts, and journal prompts. These challenges will help you push your limits and uncover new habits to live a healthier day-to-day life. Daily Workouts Alive includes over 100 daily workouts that are split up into different categories (HiiT, Abs, Pull, etc) so you can decide what type of workout you want to do. Journey The path to a fit, healthy life is a journey, not an overnight process. The journey allows you to keep track of your progress by weight, photos, and a timeline of progress. Alive also has the capability of syncing your active minutes and weight data with Apple Health. Consistency is key so as you continually hit your goals the app will reward you with achievements along the way! Subscriptions / Alive Premium Alive is free to download and offers two Premium subscription options, Monthly and Annual. Both options include a 7-day trial. We all know consistency is key when it comes to a healthy fitness journey and for me, consistency seemed all too elusive. But then I tried Alive and that all changed!!! I’m going on week five of never missing a day and I could not be more proud of myself for that🙌🏼 The workouts are progressively challenging as my skill level increases and the app is so incredibly user friendly. Trust me, you need this in your life🔥
Currently doing Libby’s program! It’s okay, but most of it is whit’s workouts and warm ups with about 1-2 of Libby performing the workouts. I love whit!!! But I feel like it was rushed or something because there’s barely any of Libby in her own program. Also some of the workouts show different videos & they don’t play. everything else is nice 🫶🏼
I am actually sad to write this because I have been an OG fan of Whit and this app. I was fraudulently charged by the company and they refuse to refund me or even respond to me. I’ve sent countless emails and help forum submissions with them ignoring the majority of them or them lying and saying it’s apples fault. Well I called Apple and they informed me that was completely false and recommended I contact the company back and provide them with apples number so they could set it straight, but no worry they won’t contact me back. Attempts to post on the Facebook simply asking for help not even being rude were denied for posting and comments were ignored by admins … but other members commented and shared the same story as mine. I now have to go through a lengthy credit card dispute and completely get a new card thanks to this app. Update: after months I was finally responded to with an apology for my experience requesting that I reach out to support. As stated in my review I tried multiple times and still had to rely on my bank to fight this. Clearly they didn’t care enough to read my review or attempt to fix the wrong as evidenced by a general automated “I’m sorry reach out to support” response.
Any app that accepts payment needs to have reliable customer support in place Response to Developer Response: I tried reaching out to 2 different email addresses and on Instagram about a charge back in December. It took several weeks for a response. Eventually I received one on Instagram because I said I would dispute the charge. The representative was very blunt and said they could not help me. Ultimately I disputed it with my bank and fortunately it was credited back to me.
I love Whitney but she will literally have you going from the dumbbells to cables to bench to cables which is so frustrating in a busy gym and when you do cables she will have you alternating between three different attachments, it’s made for someone with a home gym or the luxury of going to the gym in the middle of the day when everyone else is busy
I am truly loving the is app! Thank you Whitney for teaching me how to strength train!!! I had no clue what I was doing before but with ur guidance, I feel sure now!
Loving the workouts and the amount of information and customization. Only issue is the syncing with apple health - doesn’t track the calories burned nor the duration of the workout accurately. Definitely doesn’t impede the quality of the workouts (trust me, I am totally feeling it), just want to track progress/heart rates/etc…
I have been doing the three day a week beginner workout plan, and enjoy it immensely. It’s the first time I’ve actually stuck with a program and gone to the gym consistently! But, I would say that it is not completely beginner friendly— some of the movements I only know from past sporting experience and I do not think the app has enough explanation for someone who has never done them before. My suggested improvements are as follows: - longer set up time during warm up, cool downs, and timed exercises - written and verbal explanation of each exercise to make sure form is correct - include warm up and cool down time in overall time of workout shown when previewing workouts - add notes to the workout, ex. be able to note that you should go up in weight next time on a specific exercise
Support doesn’t answer emails. Free trials don’t work. Can’t access any content on anything but a phone which is not ideal when you workout at home. Pretty much just paying for a really expensive workout plan lol
Currently working on trying to get myself out of this little funk depression and this program encourages me to push through! Thank you Whitney for creating a program that’s easy to follow and pushes me to do my best!
