See the record-shattering series about Jesus that has a 9.9 on IMDb. MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR I’ve been a believer my whole life, I’ve attended Christian schools my whole life, and I’ve heard the stories of Jesus countless times. I’ve also seen every Jesus movie and miniseries ever made, and there have been dozens. So why a new TV show about Jesus? Because I have a passion for people to hear the “old, old story” again … for the very first time. When I see Jesus movies, it’s sometimes hard for me to feel moved or excited. I've heard the stories before, and many Jesus projects just take you from Bible story to Bible story, not spending as much time on the humanity and backstories of all these characters. And they sometimes feel stiff and formal. So when we started to write a show that explores Jesus through the eyes of those around Him, we were repeatedly moved and excited. We explored the backstories of Simon Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, and a few of Jesus’ miracle recipients, and in turn experienced Him in the way they did. We couldn’t help but identify with their recklessness, rough pasts, religious piety, and desperation for life change. And ultimately, their redemption. One of our favorite responses from an early screening? "The story of Jesus that actually appealed to my teenagers!" No matter where you’re at in your journey with Christ—whether you’re one of the many people in the gospels who encountered Jesus after a horrific past without Him, or you’re a Nicodemus who’s been a lifelong member of the God team—Jesus proved over and over that we have so much to learn and innumerable traits that need change. We hope this show allows you to see Jesus as they did. The end of the trailer tells you how to watch this show right now.
This style of story telling and perspective just rocks you - historically accurate and brings refreshing perspective on the gospel story and fills the underlying gap within the text with emotions and genuineness.
I have been a very dry place spiritually . Hard to pray . Because of circumstances beyond my control I am now as St John of the Cross says “a dark night of the soul .” This scene in which Nicodemus opens his heart and soul and recognizes Jesus as the Messiah brought me to tears. It also brought me to remember why we all have Crosses. To be with Him we pick up our cross and go to Him. Thank you for The Chosen.
This episodes have been such an encouragement!
This show takes some of the most popular Bible stories and makes them come to life
I really like the fact that the actors don’t speak with an English accent. Enjoyed the series a lot, a whole lot. Very Biblical and what creative liberties that were used didn’t detract from the most important part......the message. Thanks for your efforts.
Took a while to be encouraged to start watching... but once I started, by episode 5 I just wish the episodes never had to end. Tremendously encouraging, absorbing, and engaging. Love the refreshing reminder of The Faith.
This show is one of the most incredible things that I have ever seen. I cried and laughed during every episode. I had heard many friends talk about “The Chosen” over the past couple months and all of them recommended it. I assumed it might be cheesy, poorly acted, or poorly made. I’ve seen plenty of Christian films with great messages but below average acting or production, so I put this show on the shelf for another time. After a videographer friend, a high creative and trusted voice, spoke highly of the show, I checked it out. And fell in love This show is full of excitement, beauty, wonder, and intrigue. There was never a dull moment while I was watching it and it brought familiar stories to life. I am immensely grateful for this show and will be putting my money where my mouth is to help fund more seasons to come. To those reading: Please check out this app. It’s worth it. To the creators: I’m humbled and inspired. Thank you
I was raised in a Christian home and taught all about Jesus, both in the home, as well as in my church. To say I was blessed is a tremendous understatement. I’m thankful to God every day for that rich heritage. My husband was raised much the same way. All that to say, we are blown away with the excellence in which Jesus is portrayed. As my husband said, never have we seen a more authentic blending of God and man coming together in the person of Jesus Christ. This series is EXCEPTIONAL. I pray the whole world has the opportunity to see this. It’s life changing!
This is how I hope all future religious gospel centered shows follow. Excited for season 2!
Many series about the life of Christ have come before but none like this one... It awoke something in me and I’ve found myself crying many times and not even at the typical sad moments of Jesus’ suffering you’d think of, but at the dynamic characters around him and the significance of why he chose them like he chose us... I have a new found longing and love for Jesus. I myself want to meet him so badly and have him sit down to dinner with me. Honestly phenomenally written and engaging .
