See the record-shattering series about Jesus that has a 9.9 on IMDb. MESSAGE FROM THE DIRECTOR I’ve been a believer my whole life, I’ve attended Christian schools my whole life, and I’ve heard the stories of Jesus countless times. I’ve also seen every Jesus movie and miniseries ever made, and there have been dozens. So why a new TV show about Jesus? Because I have a passion for people to hear the “old, old story” again … for the very first time. When I see Jesus movies, it’s sometimes hard for me to feel moved or excited. I've heard the stories before, and many Jesus projects just take you from Bible story to Bible story, not spending as much time on the humanity and backstories of all these characters. And they sometimes feel stiff and formal. So when we started to write a show that explores Jesus through the eyes of those around Him, we were repeatedly moved and excited. We explored the backstories of Simon Peter, Matthew, Mary Magdalene, Nicodemus, and a few of Jesus’ miracle recipients, and in turn experienced Him in the way they did. We couldn’t help but identify with their recklessness, rough pasts, religious piety, and desperation for life change. And ultimately, their redemption. One of our favorite responses from an early screening? "The story of Jesus that actually appealed to my teenagers!" No matter where you’re at in your journey with Christ—whether you’re one of the many people in the gospels who encountered Jesus after a horrific past without Him, or you’re a Nicodemus who’s been a lifelong member of the God team—Jesus proved over and over that we have so much to learn and innumerable traits that need change. We hope this show allows you to see Jesus as they did. The end of the trailer tells you how to watch this show right now.
So awesome. Love sharing it with my family. Such a great production thank you to everyone who made this happen. Our world needs more people like you! 💛
So LOVE this series! I want more!!!
It’s not perfect but it’s amazing. It would be hard to portray Jesus perfectly anywhere
We absolutely love this series. The characters are so relational and wonderful. Hands down the best Christian film/series EVER!!!
After each episode, the director sits down at a table with a Theologian, a Rabbi, and a priest to discuss how likely the attitude of the characters in the show could actually be what is implied in scripture. I‘ve always dreamed of a TV show that wouldn’t add anything that goes out of line with scripture, and praise God here it is!! Of course it is not perfect, but the director is humble to admit that and does his best to present us the facts as they are written. The actors are killing it!! This is my favorite representation of Jesus by far!!
I came across the crowdfunding ad quite by accident on FB and decided to invest just a small amount of dollars as I was not sure about the authenticity of the project but was intrigued by the pilot ”The Shepherd”. When I watched the seasons 1-4, I was undone! Hands down the best depiction of The Son of man/Son of God that I have ever seen. Mary of Magdala brought healing to my soul, Peter cracked me up, Andrew’s fervor was inspirational, the children were a delight, Nicodemus broke my heart and the woman at the well... I experienced inexplicable emotions with that scene. The complexity and and sheer ’realness’ portrayed by The Chosen brings Scripture Alive for me in a special way. Now for ’Jesus’ Oh my! The spirit of The Lord is upon Jonathan Roumy. He was anointed for this role! Thank you Dallas and all you guys for The Chosen! It would be an honor and privilege to be of financial service again if need be. PLEASE download the app. You WILL be changed!
Not since The Passion of the Christ have I been so moved by a film centered on the Gospel. This is the finest writing, acting, cinematography, music and digital delivery platform I have ever witnessed in Christian media. Dallas Jenkins, I hear the applause of nail-scarred hands. Well done! I’m so very proud of this work, and I’m with you all the way.
This show is AMAZING!!! The disciples are played so well. In Christianity, it’s an assumption that Christians have to be perfect but this show beautifully gives you the physical image of just how imperfect the people were that Jesus called and His tender, patient love towards them.
I’m grateful. completely in love with Jesus. I love each character. I cried in every episode🕊💕
I’m usually so leery when it comes to media that portrays the story of Jesus or other Biblical characters and events. This show is beautifully and faithfully done and I am a HUGE fan. I’m praying for the continuation of this ministry. I know God is behind it.
