As of 1/24/20, this is a lump of coal that requires some serious pressure to become the diamond that can be a serious alternative to Mint. So many unforced errors right out the gate that question coding or management’s thought process. For example, you can link your mortgage account but can’t add a corresponding property. Why? There’s a default field that shows YTD spending but no option to show more relevant information like MTD or QTD even though that functionality exists. It’s 2020 and some how banks like Marcus (Goldman Sachs) are missing. On some occasions, you may find an institution but the app never connects (MyLifeNow). 2/18/20 Update - Marcus added. Other institutions listed but never connects. If you are brave enough to click the Help icon, you’ll be greeted with an error message. I guess even Help needs help these days. 2/18/20 Update - help function still not working. I am confident that I will be canceling this account before the trial period is up. Not worth $40 right now. 2/18/20 Update - cancelled trial account. Just not worth paying $40 to be a test user.
I rarely write reviews but this app warrants one. First, I think that this app solves all the problems of modern financial apps. Information that is private (mostly) and zero adds. I love the apps like clarity but I hate all the adds and free information they get from me. The app still has a long way to go and I hope they keep improving it!
Quicken, a staple in personal finance, makes a terrible app and decides to charge people for it. Sell Mint before you ruin it. Mint is great, don’t touch it.
***Ignore Developers Fake 5 Star Reviews*** Not a serious app. This is like someone’s half finished homework for their programming class. Major functionality are absent (Like the ability to add assets like a home/vehicle etc., no ability to set a budget, no support for variable income, The entire help page says “sorry, something went wrong” bugs and glitches everywhere. It’s obviously trying to use some glitchy algorithms and/or possibly some basic machine learning to figure out how to crunch your data and present it but it has not been trained sufficiently. I can’t believe this is being offered from a major software company as anything other than an early Beta.
Nice layout, not ready for end users.
I love the direction they are going with this app. Very promising and gives me what I need right now, which is to see my upcoming bills and my spending plan.
My son, who is a college student, keeps track of his expenses using Simplifi! Was easy for him to setup his accounts and can see all of his spending in one place. UI is very clean and looks great!
If you need something to track bank balances and spending, this is a great app. It also has a easy to use budget feature. My one wish is for the budget feature to integrate into the spending watch list. Overall a better solution for simpler financial needs than other apps I’ve tried.
I’m loving the concept here. Think it could be a better replacement for Mint. HOWEVER the bank authentication is horrible. Whenever I try to verify bank details (which is ever single login) its very buggy to receive a code and enter it in.
So far this seems to be good. My one big issue with these types of apps is the way in which future transactions and the running balance is displayed. Here’s how I do my budget. I enter the next two months of expenses as scheduled transactions, things I know I have to pay. In the app I’ve been using those transactions show up in the register like every other one. But with this app, for some reason I can’t explain, they felt the need to change the user experience to a horizontal scrolling view. Please Simplifi just add it to the normal register. And please please add a column on far right with the DAILY RUNNING BALANCE. This seems to be such a challenge for makers of finance software.
