Welcome to the narrated walking tour of Boston’s Freedom Trail by Action Tour Guide, where the American Revolution began! Are you ready to turn your phone into a personal tour guide? This app offers a fully-guided experience of historic Boston - just like a local giving you a personalized, turn-by-turn, fully-guided tour. Boston’s Historic Freedom Trail: Walk down storied streets in the footsteps of the founding fathers. Hear the story of how the first sparks of revolution flew in Boston, and how those sparks became an inferno that engulfed the American colonies. The architects of the revolution come alive along this historic trail as you pass sights like the Boston Common and the Old North Church, where Paul Revere’s famous lanterns once hung. Learn about the Sons of Liberty and the webs of conspiracy and unrest which once threatened to shatter Boston into a thousand pieces. Uncover the truth about misunderstood events like the Boston Massacre and the Boston Tea Party. See the city of Boston in a brand new light as we take you back to the time of John Hancock, Paul Revere, and Benjamin Franklin, all without having to fuss with a map! As you walk, audio stories will automatically pop up and start playing. It’s revolutionary history like you’ve never heard it before. See all these historic sites along the Freedom Trail: ■ Boston Common ■ Massachusetts State House ■ Park Street Church ■ Granary Burying Ground ■ King's Chapel ■ Franklin Statue ■ Old Meeting House ■ Old Corner Bookstore ■ Old State House ■ Boston Massacre Site ■ Faneuil Hall ■ Paul Revere House ■ Old North Church ■ Copp's Hill Burying Ground ■ USS Constitution Museum ■ Bunker Hill Monument RAVE REVIEWS: “This was an amazing way to walk the Freedom Trail!!! The tracking through the GPS was spot on and it was having all the information provided on all the points!!!” “I did not know a lot about the American revolutionary war and without overwhelming me, it brought the events of the time to life for me” “Excellent stories must buy. A nice walk and easy to follow” APP FEATURES: ■ Plays automatically The app knows where you are and which direction you are heading, and plays audio automatically about the things you are seeing, plus stories and tips and advice. Simply follow the GPS map & the routing line. ■ Fascinating stories Be immersed in an engaging, accurate, and entertaining story about each point of interest. The stories are professionally narrated and prepared by local guides. Most stops also have additional stories that you can optionally choose to hear. ■ Works offline No data, cellular or even wireless network connection needed while taking the tour. Download over Wi-Fi/Data Network before your tour. ■ Freedom of travel Explore on your own time, at your own pace, and with the flexibility to linger at stops that interest you. You have total freedom to skip ahead, stop and restart, and take as many photos as you’d like. ■ Award-winning platform The app developers received the famous “Laurel Award” from the Newport Mansions, who use it for over a million tours/year. FREE DEMO vs FULL ACCESS: Check out the totally free demo to get an idea of what this tour is all about. If you like it, purchase the tour to get full access to all of the stories. QUICK TIPS: ■ Download ahead of time, over data or WiFi. ■ Be sure the phone battery is fully charged, or take an external battery pack. Continued use of GPS running in the background can dramatically decrease battery life. This app uses your location service and GPS tracking feature to allow real-time tracking of your route. NEW TOURS ADDED! ■ Boston Ghost: Welcome to Boston, home of the American Revolution, site of the Tea Party, and a hotspot for…. ghosts? That’s right — this historic city is full of dark graveyards, spooky sightings, and haunted houses. ■ Harvard Square ■ Harborwalk (Boston Tea Party) ■ Scenic Cape Ann

Totally worth it. You could just walk it yourself but you miss out on some great narration, and to do one of the organized tours you are spending 3x more easily. Highly recommend this for a nice diy walking tour at your own pace.

Waste of money

The gps tracking doesn’t work worth a darn In downtown Boston. You’re better off spending the $7 on a printed guidebook

Poor design: don’t waste $

We were following the bricks from bunker hill, apparently app has a different path! It would skip out of an audio in the middle, making places like the cemeteries totally annoying.

Helpful but not worth the price

While it was nice to help us get around the Freedom Trail and learn the basics of each site, we really wished we had more in-depth information given. Most of the descriptions at the roughly 20 or so stops were only 1-2 minutes in length and we were usually left wanting more. I’d expect this from a free app but one that is $7 should have more IMO.

Benefits over tour group guides

First time in Boston. My wife and I split a pair of WIRELESS earbuds. I put in the left ear. She used the right ear. Geo triggers worked perfectly. You can repeat the audio if you miss something. What we liked over using the app more than a tour group type was that we could do our own pace. At one point we found ourselves next to the Sam Adams tasting room, so we had a beer and pretzel. Much later in little Italy we saw a charming bakery down a tight alley. We found a bench and had a coffee and pastry before returning to the Freedom Trail. We lingered for a long time in a cemetery moved by the names we recognized. You can even do half of it and come back another day to do the rest of it. This app is Freedom on the Freedom Trail.

Just what I needed!

I was coming up on the end of my trip to Boston and had booked so many group activities (whale watching, day trip to Martha’s Vineyard, etc - all highly recommended) and yet still felt I hadn’t soaked up enough history in Boston, itself. This app was recommended just as I was about to book a bus tour, which I was just feeling wouldn’t have been intimate/involved enough and it was just perfect! It was about a 2-3 mile narrated tour of the freedom trail plus some extra historic sites, I learned SO much, got some good exercise in, and got to see all the sites up close and personal for a fraction of what any other city tour would’ve cost! I would highly recommend this app. The one thing I will say, (which does not take away from my 5 star rating at all) is that the map isn’t as “smart” as your google maps app. I often used google maps as a supplement/ to navigate. Other than that, this was perfection!

terribly overpriced

stupid app a child could make. use once and delete. should be $0.99, but author thinks they deserve a killing.
