This was our first time in Boston and this self-guided app was PERFECT for a day on the Freedom Trail! We loved the go-at-your-own pace idea with clearly marked points of interest along the route, audio information at each stop, and the GPS feature which helped us to hit each important stop on the trail. Highly recommend this informative and convenient app for anyone looking to explore Boston!
It was a great self-guided app and also offered some extra information at some stops. As you walk, it tracks your GPS and plays audio automatically as you arrive at the location. This tour was an excellent way to remember the American Revolution and the history. The really nice thing was that you can focus on your tour and not have your head stuck in a book or map and miss something!
We were going to take a guided tour, but then I stumbled across this. We liked being able to go at our on pace. It was very easy to follow the trail. The audio clips for each stop could be a little longer in some spots. I would have liked some audio during the long parts of the walk when there was nothing to listen to.
Don’t bother with guided tours. The app had some really good information. We followed our own timeline and path. Stories are excellent. My only nit would be that the map had difficulty orienting at times, and also that my feet are sore from all the walking.
The app on the phone provided as little or as much information about each of the locations as one cared to hear. We were able to stop mid-tour to have lunch, then resume our sightseeing afterwards. One cautionary note, prior to taking to tour, plan ahead on how you plan to return to your desired location.
It was good to be able to go at your own pace. Not too difficult to follow, but I had to look at my phone more than I would have liked. Would recommend adding some additional content at some of the locations.
Was very helpful in describing places and scenery. Sometimes a tad confusing regarding directions and I had to back track. But overall very useful and fun. Will try another.
This app provided a lot of background information while walking around. My hu**and opted not to get the app and kept asking what the app was saying about each site. My advice would be to make sure you have a backup battery since the app does use up significant battery life.
I have been using this app for years. Love it. Highly recommend.
