I love love love hear to slay and Russell brand but that’s it...there’s not that much here...
The beauty of podcasting is its open nature: make something, release it to the world. That’s how I discovered A Very Fatal Murder years after its release. Terrific, terrific stuff. Season 1 was released broadly, but season 2? A Luminary exclusive. Alright, I thought. What the heck. Worth tossing some money Luminary’s way to get more of this fantastic show. Only... whoops! Luminary has seemingly wiped season 2 from existence. Why? Nobody online will say. One minute, presumably, it was there, and now... who knows? Thank god Luminary didn’t produce season 1 too, or you wouldn’t be able to listen to that either. Fortunately for you, my friend, season 1 can be listened to for the better-than-Luminary price of absolutely free. One star, because the app LITERALLY could not do the single thing I downloaded it to do. Worthless. If you want a good podcasting app, by the way, I highly recommend Overcast.
I joined because one of my favorite podcasts moved to Luminary. I hate having to pay this much when I’m already paying for Spotify. I’d much rather listen to commercials and everyone have access. Also, it crashes constantly. Sometimes when I’m listening, but every single time I pause, it crashes.
The story telling, the audio details, the music it is an absolute JOY to listen too.
Why does the description mot say the cost? Can’t find it nowhere except my cc.. a bit shady
So sad that Hear to Slay is trapped inside this glitchy garbage app. Would totally subscribe to a Patreon for that show alone just to avoid Luminary. The downloads and playback just don’t work. Pretty annoying to have to pay for a service that doesn’t even work.
Under the Skin with Russell Brand is the best podcast ever made and Luminary is the only place to get it!
The most recent issue is 175 listings of one podcast under the “your latest episodes” section - and nothing else. A long standing issue is the inability to push to an earlier part of a podcast — the only option is to tap the :15 sec rewind button over and over and over and over and over and over.... There are better podcast options that are free.
Nice format. Ease of use is pretty good. Took a whole to get the hang of other features but it eventually came together. Like the emphasis on seeing the podcasts thumbnails.
I'm a hardcore member of the Rapapack so as soon as I got word that Michael Rapaport was moving his podcast over to Luminary, I signed up. For a long time I only had 3 podcasts I listened to on Luminary. The recent change to Apple Podcasts was the straw that broke the camel's back though. I couldn't take it for long. I switched all my podcasts over to Luminary where it isn't confusing to distinguish between what I've already listened to and what is new to me. I understand they have a lot of original content but I'm busy enough keeping up with the shows I already enjoy...I like this app even without having heard the original content. I love being able to customize the home screen of My Shows. I've got everything in groupings that are pleasing to me. There hasn't been a show I've looked up and wasn't able to find on Luminary so far. I guess my only complaint would be that the home page pushes the original shows. I'd love to be able to exclude certain things. I don't want to see Russell Brand's face every time I open Luminary. Unless some drastic change bums me out, I'm planning on keeping Luminary for the long haul.
