After reviewing Endel's overall low ratings on the Mac app store, I naively thought, "Well, what could be the true problem with updating Endel?" Boy was I in for a show. (Or lack of, in this case.) Endel has been gutted and replaced with a new "productive" Endel, a reduced and simplified version of an already simple and sleek app. Why? All the devs are shaking right now because they realize they've coded something completely unecessary and confounding. Please bring back sounds, smooth animations, and all the reasons we loved Endel on Mac. Thanks!
Signed up for 7 day free trail and instantly got charged. App sounds are ok, but you could dig around a little and get better ambient playlists.
I love this app - really works to get me into a focused zone. However, the MacOS app will not play through my HomePod, which is very frustrating. I hope the developers will get this fixed soon. Honestly, this is the one thing that is keeping me from a lifetime subscription.
not free!
The one that invites newcomers to try out the offer. There are different offers depending on the number of people you invite, you can get Endel Premium by inviting 5 people. Once you have successfully invited 5 people, the entrance to the other offers on the page will be highlighted but not clickable, and clicking on it will be unresponsive. Re-enter the get page and all the other offers disappear, leaving only a discount for inviting 3 people. Isn't that defrauding the consumer?
Even after paying the exorbitant fees, they STILL pester you with ads. Crazy. The company is very sleazy.
This app is one of the only things I’ve found that helps me sleep, it works great 80% of the time. Annoyingly, once every week or two it glitches and the sound stops as soon as I close the app/turn off my phone. I have to delete & reinstall the app, & then to get the sound I prefer (rainy outside) I have to share the app with someone. Genuinely better than any other sound app I’ve tried, but this glitch is getting annoying enough that I’m not using it as much as I’d like to.
Way too many ads. I'm a premium member, and it still shows me ads. Support responded saying that it's because they're having a sale, but it ruins the experience. Don't I pay for premium to skip all the ads? Otherwise, great app.
The watch version of the app is merely a remote control for your phone. I expected to work it independently, playing sounds from the watch itself. Unfortunately, this app is not for that purpose. I am taking off two stars for the developers who failed to mention that in the description.
The science is bologna. It cites an industry funded and published "study" comparing its own technology to other platforms. Nothing in high quality peer-reviewed journals. If there were actual science on this topic, it would likely be a matter of pilot studies and other preliminary research. Neuroscience isn't powered to this level of granularity. Still, I might have canceled Spotify and bought a lifetime subscription if not for two things: 1. It refuses to acknowledge I am nocturnal and plays sleepytime music when I wake up. 2. The music is very slow to change, and it's very tedious to hear the same beat for many minutes. 3. I can't decide what my energy level of music is, a preformed program does I almost exclusively listen to this kind of music, so I would have liked to delete a subscription with a lifetime purchase. But this app's commitment to its bologna makes it unusable. My "circadian rhythym" doesn't decide what my energy level is; my tea addiction does. If I want to get pumped, let me get pumped. I don't need a babysitter algorithm. But between the lack of user choice and the slow change, I would not even use this app for free. Goodbye, bologna.
