The content is useful, interesting, diverse and abundant. The app is absolutely terrible. Terrible enough that I do not recommend spending the money as the effort put into making the app accessible does not reflect its value.
Not everyone can afford the high cost of a yearly plan. How about a monthly plan or the ability to access a single course for those of us not able to afford a yearly plan?
Bug.
I can’t manage my classes at all. Classes don’t complete properly and I lose my place when going from my iPhone to my iPad - gotta go back and figure out where I left-off all the time. For some reason, My List has added skateboarding and I couldn’t be less interested - but I can’t figure out how to remove it from my list. Other classes are now appearing magically that I can’t remove from My List. Why can’t I edit my lists? Other classes I need to trick into completing after I really complete them to get them out of My Progress. Classes and instructors are interesting enough. I’m learning a bunch of different insights into all kinds of areas. It seems they let some ‘instructors’ ramble-on about what they know, then they edit that footage and figure out the class structure and subtitles. Or maybe I’m too picky about what’s promised & then delivered. The curse of being an editor, I imagine.
I go to manage my subscription It says go to the settings on the website On my mobile I phone sign in and go to the settings, it says “watch masterclass on the app”…. I even click the link inside the app to make sure I’m going to the right place, same screen… Even if there is a way to manage it on the website you have NOT made it easily accessible. WHY?! You could have easily integrated this into the app. Basically you’re trying to force people to give up and keep the “GIFTED” duo subscription and not cancel it in time when it renews… makes me sick
The offline experience is just totally broken. You can download videos for offline viewing, but if you launch the app while offline, it hangs, and when it finally loads, none of your downloaded content is available. The content is mostly pretty good, and would be worth the cost if it were convenient to access and playback whenever you find time, but it’s not. Cancelled.
Content is amazing. But every time I open the app it goes to a video I started watching the first time I opened it. When it goes to the next in the playlist I’m watching, it goes right back to that first video. I don’t understand why this app is so bad when the content is so great and the cost to see the videos is so much. Disappointed
This app is great. Technically speaking, the interface is nice, the full screen feature is nice, the menus and navigation are nice. It’s a streaming service that many streaming service should take example on. Now, the content is the reason why you come to Masterclass. They are not joking on the quality. It’s simply the best of the best of each domain that is talking. The lessons are in small bites, very easy and entertaining. The speakers are clever, entertaining, passionate and really really make you feel cleverer at the end of each episode. If you’re curious about cooking and astrophysics, about diplomacy and interior design, about negotiations and acting, about anything and everything, this is meant for you. The yearly subscription is painless, the content keeps being updated every week, and you cannot see the world the same way after each class.
Terrible app if you plan on watching downloaded videos while off line, they don’t work
The content is great, I really enjoy the classes I choose. However, the app crashes a lot, gives error messages a lot, and constantly pauses in the middle of me watching my classes. I don’t know if the MC app is built to perform the way it needs too with the quantity of subscribers it has? But for the price I’m paying, I would expect the app to be more reliable. So 5 stars for content, 0-1 for the app, averaging out to a 3 star review.
