This is good for members but I’m in young men’s and we have many non member boys, we use groupme since we can connect with both members and non members. This app cuts out the non members or Investgators. There needs to be a way to include them.
People are asking a lot from this app, but the bottom line is that it will not meet everyone’s needs in every situation— and it isn’t supposed to, either! The purpose of this app, rather, is to provide a first-party “bare bones” resource for all the essential needs of a Latter-day Saint youth’s virtual lifestyle, and it fulfills that purpose remarkably well. The standout feature is probably the “Discover” tab, which sends news, inspiration, and ideas daily to your smartphone. The only comparable resource like it in the digital world is probably the Church’s social media accounts. The goal setting and journaling features are nothing to write home about (or with), but for a typical Latter-day Saint youth who may not have access to a habit tracking app or a journaling app, it can help them a lot! It’s not Day One, but it works. Something similar could be said for the Circles feature. Circles integrates something that only the Church has— comprehensive membership records— and tries to build off that rather than attempt to make a GroupMe clone. Circles could use improvement as a whole, but if GroupMe works better for your church needs in the meantime, don’t waste time writing a one-star review and just use GroupMe instead. In conclusion, this is a wonderful, though imperfect, app. I encourage you to appreciate it for what it is rather than whine about what it doesn’t have. If you need more from the Discovery tab, read your scriptures and study some general conference talks. If you need better journaling or goal-tracking, put your money where your mouth is and get a journaling or goal-tracking app. If you need better social features, use SMS or iMessage or GroupMe or whatever you think fits your needs best. The Gospel Living team has done a wonderful job responding to feedback and making these fundamental features as accessible as possible. The app serves its purpose well and fully deserves five stars.
I love this app! It helps me keep my goals in line and reminds me to do them, and I LOVE the playlists they come out with! The only problem I’ve seen is the music takes a really long time to actually start. It just sits there and loads. Not a huge deal, but maybe that could fixed?? I know it’s a fairly new app and still in the experimental stage. Thank you! 💕
Good app overall, with one major issue: Parents are not notified when new items are posted in their children’s circles. This is very frustrating when YM and YW leaders insist on using the app to communicate but the parents are in the dark because of the lack of notifications. The only way to know if something new has been posted is to check each circle assigned to each child. Ain't nobody got time for that!
I enjoy the app but there is a flaw in its design. Notifications for new announcements or activities are coming through and there is no way to set notifications. Is there something that I’m not seeing in the settings? My son is missing out of activities and meetings due to not getting any notifications. My husband and when asked by the Teacher’s quorum leader asked were we getting the announcements of meetings. We have never gotten a notification at all from the time we downloaded this app. Could that feature be added PLEASE?!
I like the circles portion of this app but I never can get my phone to give me notifications when somebody post something to my circles that I am a part of. I have notifications enabled in the app for both of the circles that I am following, and I have all notifications enabled on my iPhone 8 in the Notification settings. When I open the app then I will get a bad notification that there are new posts and if I close the app before reading them then the badge will stay on the app and appear on my phone.
I’m surprised the Gospel Living app does not have any support for ministering. It would be very nice to have ministering circles... This would include your ministering companion(s) and the families you minister to. This way, it would be easy to chat, schedule visits, etc. There would be a circle for each household you minister to. This would also allow the family members an easy way to reach out to their ministers.
Love this app, but when entering a message to send to a circle I can only see the first few words I type. Unable to see the whole message before hitting send. This is very frustrating . Please fix this or please respond and let me know if there is a setting I need to change and how to do that.
OH MY GOSH YOU GUYS MADE THIS SO TERRIBLY I NEED YOU TO MAKE CIRCLES WORK AND NOT MAKE EVERY ACCOUNT I MAKE BECOME BROKEN ONE DAY AFTER I MAKE IT
Notifications needs to be repaired. Nothing ever pops up, or badges, banners, sounds. I’ve tried turning it off and on and deleting app and reinstalling. It’s just not getting notifications through. Only way to the notifications is by going into the app to see if you have any.
