Would keep reverting my temperature settings (Celsius vs Fahrenheit, etc) even after login. Uninstalled.
I have used Windy for over a year and value it enough to subscribe to the premium level. It is worth the annual fee and a 5-Star rating except for one single missing feature. The app is very flexible and powerful. With a selections from the menu a user can see anything from from a simple local forecast to see the long term trends in an area. If you are a pilot, surfer, or someone who really wants a deep dive in to important aspects of the weather that is easily available too. Also important - Windy accurately forecasts the weather. It even allows you to chose from several forecasting models should you believe a particular model is more accurate. Yet all of the flexibility provides some frustration, and judging by the forum, many other users. Windy seems to have a single default view that applies to all users. So then each time we open the app we have to remember and find all of the menus selections to display the weather the individual user wants. It takes a minute or two to get this set so no big deal - but then again this is required every time a user opens the app. If Windy allowed a user to set a default view this would solve that issue and then from my perspective, be the only weather app I need.
This is the best weather app. Has every statistic you’d ever want to see on map view. 10/10!
Won’t save login. Won’t save setting unless logged in. But keeps getting logged out. Was once great but now terrible. Who decided to change it to act that way?
Why would anyone only want to see high temperatures in a daily forecast? I have never witnessed another weather app that doesn’t actually tell you highs *and* lows in the forecast highlights. I can’t believe I wasted $ on the premium before realizing this, thankfully I was able to avoid it renewing again.
This was my reference weather app but suddenly I was forced to update it and suddenly the widget stopped working on my devices, which all run on iOS13. Why? Because I hate where Apple is taking iOS, and because it is my right to run whichever version I want. So I get really upset when app developers force me to update an app, which then does not work properly on my older version of iOS, implying that I should update the OS. Since I am not going to do that until I change my device, I just don’t use the faulty app anymore.
Every update signs you out and apparently your settings (like Metric vs Imperial) are gone. Even after manually setting all units to Imperial, the screens still show Metric. After restarting the phone it generally works. The five random number generators, a.k.a. “forecasts” are briefly interesting to compare but rarely agree and are often wrong, certainly for the SW United States. Not a fault of the app but it sure highlights how pathetic weather forecasting is. No apparent way to make one of the five forecast models the default. If it’s a feature that paying for the app adds, it is not documented.
The pilot options are great and I hope you expand on them. A wind visual with runway selection would be great. I'm looking forward to trying on Watch.
Living in Southern California I really have no need for a weather app. That said, I open this app multiple times per day for the beautifully presented detailed information. Very well made and extremely useful. Fantastic.
Widget stopped updating ever since Update.
