This is worthless. It does not have all the major trails, there is no 3-D on anything but their selected trails- I tried to cancel within a day of purchase- no way- waste of money
With maps and directions. It’s the next best thing to having a guided tour! This app is pricey, but I might decide that it’s worth it.
Why not ?
This app is cool in the fact that you can record your walks and document trails you’ve gone on. There’s no way to add trails. The trails that are on there don’t have actual maps to download like it says. Not enough users to make it interesting. Not renewing my subscription. Maybe if it was $7.99 a year instead of $7.99 a month I’d keep it.
Not very intuitive. Help!
Similar to the individual in Glacier NP, I also experience a downloaded map that fail on a hike in El Dorado National Forest. I have the paid version loaded on my cell phone. My issue occurred in October of this year. You had mentioned a bug fix ??
Got all the way to the trailhead of Cathedral Lakes and as soon as cell device cut off so did access to downloaded maps. Upgraded to premium so this would not be an issue. The app states the maps are downloaded but even turning the phone on airplane mode makes them disappear, a few with just a weird blue line in the middle of the screen. We were extremely fortunate that one of our hikers had Gaia GPS which worked amazingly offline without a single issue. There are no help sections or user guides in the app and the Trails.com website has no FAQ's or any information that was helpful AT ALL! Customers should not have to contact customer service for every little thing, there should be resources readily available. Will not renew this membership and warn anyone trying out this service while it's discounted, don't waste your money.
Attempted to buy premium with discount code for Halloween. Link redirects to Apple app; will charge you the full amount w/o allowing you to put in special discount code.... bait & switch? Hopefully others don’t experience this
I bought premium version to augment my very useful AllTrails app...Trails was on sale for 14.99 and features aerial pics to “know before you go.” First thing, it is based on a 1997 trail guide, and many if not most of the very few reviews are quotes from that guide. Things change A LOT in 11 yrs and most folks would like a realistic assessment rather than trail guide rhetoric using words like “blissful.” Clunky. Also the maps just take the closest chunk of map, even if the trail is barely evident and located on the edge of the map. Just plain hard to navigate. Didn’t differentiate between trails where dogs could be under voice control vs leashed. Multiple inaccuracies, a flat nearby city park trail (takena landing) was noted to have a total elevation gain of 348’. The Intensive Management trail in McDonald Forest near Corvallis is a 1.1 mi interpretive trail with minimal elevation gain...Trails combined that trail with the Calloway creek trail. These details matter.
I signed up for premium service and it was not beneficial. I have tried to contact trails.com to cancel. I have not received a response. Website does not give me an option to cancel service. Instead they keep taking my money. I am not very pleased with the app or the service.
