Dietary advice for gout or kidney stones is often conflicting, inaccurate or even completely outdated. Therefore, we evaluated hundreds of scientific studies and put together the latest information available for these topics. This app will help you improve your eating habits! Oox covers the following topics: ■ DIET AND GOUT Usually, the method of choice is a dietary restriction of the purine intake. However, it is frequently overlooked that purines are only one part of the problem and that several other dietary factors play an important role, too. ■ LOW OXALATE DIET Without proper instruction a low oxalate diet is very complicated to follow. However, most guidelines do not consider the bioavailability of oxalates. Besides, oxalates are only one factor that contributes to the formation of kidney stones. You can use the app for free with a limited functionality. It doesn't require a registration and is free of ads. If you want more details, you can upgrade each topic with an in-app purchase that adds additional features and information. Easy to use.
Awesome app! A Godsend for those of us suffering from stones or gout. It is a wealth of convenience, facts, current information ,and- very fast & easy to use. I see that it could also be useful for other purposes or afflictions; such as breaking the insulin resistance of diabetes & weight control, with the listing of glycemic index, glycemic load & carb content, anytime a given food is selected. Keep up the great work!
I downloaded for gout health. I’m new. Initial reaction is that the app needs some how-to instructions: on what the various colors mean and explanation on what to make of the percentages indicated. I also wish I could search for common branded processed foods and get a quick yay or nay on them (eg, Snickers bar, Campbell’s Chicken Noodle Soup, Cracklin Oat Bran Cereal, etc). You maybe couldn’t include all brands of all food but there must be a finite 250 or so processed foods that are common in American diets.
It’s ok for helping me stay on track but it’s missing quite a few items making it difficult for me to figure out if it’s something I can have or not. Would be good to incorporate dressings, granola bars and things like that.
Can't trust other info if avocado is listed as fine for low oxalate diet.
I often have gout attacks that last up to 4 weeks as well as Kidney disease. I am disciplined enough to eat right. The problem is i like a huge variety foods and it’s very difficult to conveniently get the information quickly. Not only is this APP quick, it’s also concise. Everything about the food item im looking up on one page rather than going back & fourth. This app works especially nice for me considering i’m on not only a Gout diet but also a strict Kidney & Cardio diet. I have downloaded and purchased almost all the other APPs pertaining to this and nothing compares. The BEST by far. Thank you, John C
This is the best app I’ve found with info on oxalates, but there are many common foods missing (flour tortillas?!) and some conflicting information (see corn vs corn on the cob). Maybe it’s just my iPhone 6, but I also can’t view the visual charts because there’s no way to minimize the keyboard. Last thing I’ve noticed is there’s a vegetarian feature, but all it does is grays out the meat options rather than hiding them altogether. Not sure the point of that. Overall a decent way to look up nutrition information.
For those of us who have to struggle through life on a low purine diet, this app is a life saver! It’s information is so useful and the quantity of food evaluated is amazing, and so easily categorized. This really helps me to understand the food choices I need to make to keep my Gout at bay.
I love this app and use it daily to keep me in check with my gout issues but I wish they would add more foods. I find myself starring at some foods wondering if I should eat it.
I have been looking for books that do not exist that does with this app does -address uric acid in oxalates. However I would be glad to purchase the professional edition unfortunately there is one just for oxalates and another just for uric acid. If the designer could have put both of them together as this free version is -with happiness I will purchase the other however this is a fantastic App and a must have for anyone who wants control over their life and health.
