Apple TV Remote is a great companion to Apple TV, delivering the best of the Siri Remote. With Apple TV Remote, you’ll never need to put down your iPhone or iPad to enjoy Apple TV. And you can use the app along with the Siri Remote. • Navigate Apple TV with touch gestures • Quickly enter text, email addresses, and passwords using the keyboard • Ask Siri to find something great to watch, listen to, or play • Control the movie, TV show, or song that’s currently playing • View song lyrics, change music tracks, and select movie chapters • Play games using the accelerometer and gyroscope • Turn on Game Mode for simplified game controls • Use volume buttons on your iOS device to control volume Requirements: • iOS devices using iOS 9.3.2 or later • Wi-Fi connection to Apple TV • Apple TV (4th generation), using tvOS 9.2.1 or later • Apple TV (3rd generation), using Apple TV Software 7.2.1 • Apple TV (2nd generation), using Apple TV Software 6.2.1 • Certain Now Playing features, including lyrics, playlists, and chapter, audio, and captions selection for movies and TV shows, require iOS 10.3 or later and tvOS 10.2 or later • Volume control requires an AV receiver with CEC support Note: Siri requires Apple TV (4th generation) and availability varies by country and language.
No options to remove notifications? Wah!
It would be nice if you could allow volume control within the app. I don’t know if that would require the phone to have an IR blaster tho.
The app acts just like the Apple remote for the most part which is...swell, if you lost your remote. However an iPhone has SO MUCH MORE CAPABILITIES, so why can’t I use the keypad on my phone to enter in passwords or searches? I have you g kids at home and so for certain requests I require that a password is entered. Why I still have to do this one letter at a time from something as technologically advanced as iPhone is MIND BLOWING! If you’ve lost your remote this works pretty well. I figured that the app would integrate some features that would be possible from the iDevice you’ve downloaded the app to. This feature/ability is available on a different app. So, why not this one?
The app is great, but it would be nice to also have a volume button on it.
This is a real fluid experience; the only thing missing is volume control. It would be nice if it could link through CEC or allow 3rd party companies on a list of partners like Roku that would allow a login of some type into the Apple app to give basic tv inputs and volume controls integrated in the Apple remote, or vice versa. It’s annoying to have to have 2 apps open to control the volume. Heck worse case scenario put volume control only for Apple Tv that can be controlled as a setting.
Great to have this app but the physical remote lets you change volume. Without that in the app you must use a physical device anyway.
Don’t usually review apps but I don’t know what happened to this one. Since my remote stopped working I have been using this, but now this has stopped working. Really Apple it’s your app why not keep it working? Stopped about the time they came out with their Apple TV app. Plus I can’t screen share anymore. “ Always a problem loading content.”
I labeled the title of this review to reflect the consistency this app brings. Which is, in a word, awful. That’s enough. Make this better, Apple.
This is directed to the first review that I read from a name starting with kay and she is impossible. Everyone’s problem is that they don’t have one no problem will be if we could not write a review. That’s the short answer. Now according to the app, I don’t see what the purpose of the app is Win the phone Apple Watch and iPad all come with A native Apple TV remote in the control center which is so easy to use and barely has any aesthetic different than the one that I just downloaded and I am going to delete which was it just a waste of my time Apple you’re going the wrong way.
This app would be great if it weren’t missing the biggest button on the actual remote. Why no volume control?
