Thanks for an amazing tour!
We would highly recommend this fun, interesting and informative audio tour. Only advice we have is to begin your day early. There are so many places to see and do…we ran out of time. Also, pack a lunch. Most of the wayside places to grab a bite to eat were closed.
Helpful for our family of 6!
We purchased the trip to Hana guide just before departure, SO helpful. Not knowing what we’re were to come up on, the guide explained areas and kept us informed on time. Lots of history as well. Would highly recommend for newbies like us.
Good value and very interesting
We were a bit skeptical at first about this. However the tips and stories, off-the-beaten path stops and cultural education all made it more than worthwhile. What we mostly appreciated was the message of respect and care for the Hawaiian people and land, really calling tourists to step consciously and with honor on this precious land. We took the road to Hana and then continued all the way around East Maui. Just make sure you download all of the guides you think you will need as there is very little Wi-Fi available out in Hana and along the road. Overall definitely recommended!
Missed some stopping points on Road to Hana
While helpful, and somewhat entertaining, this guide kept suggesting “there’s so much more to see ahead”. We didn’t find much more ahead, and specifically, there were two spots not addressed, that had about 10-20 cars parked nearby. We didn’t stop, and I can only imagine we missed the two best swimming holes and waterfalls. Additionally, finding lunch in Hana was disappointing. Best to bring a picnic lunch and enjoy it at one of the beautiful scenic stops before you get there. There definitely remains a post pandemic malaise on Maui.

Great app! Fun, educational and it felt like we had our own personal tour guide. At times we were even surprised by how accurate it was. Very funny too. Loved it and would highly recommend this app.
Made for an absolutely awesome day!
We are in Maui for the first time, from Michigan. Had heard that we HAD TO do the road to Hana but wanted more flexibility than a regular tour bus could have given us. This app absolutely made our day! The information was all correct and up-to-date, the hints and suggestions were extremely helpful, the guide was super engaging, educational and, at times, even truly funny. We even dug the music selections — some of it was just background elevator-ish music but a lot of it (maybe ALL of it?) was Hawaiian and even got quite deeply cultural which enhanced the educational aspect of the tour. We did the there-and-back trip (not the loop) so we were NOT looking forward to having to do the same drive twice but the totally different information and stories on the way back truly did make the drive so meaningful and fun. This app was absolutely indispensable! If we ever do another road trip in Hawaii (and we hope we do!), we will look for a Shaka Guide! Wish we were on social media so we could share the love far and wide. ❤️ Mahalo!

We bought the Shaka Guide - Road to Hana guide and loved it! There was extra information we never heard about while researching that made the trip extra special. When we turned around to start back, the guide picked right up and continued with recommendations along with the history of Hawaii. Even if cell reception were available, I’d still want this app.
Incredible experience
This app is extremely well developed and well done. It is seamless with the drive to Hana town. It is witty, insightful and a joy. The narration is spot on and linked to your gps position. The interlining music is perfectly tailored. The insights and suggestions are perfectly timed. Plug in, sit back and enjoy the ride.
