The app is not safe, it doesn’t protect you from scammers!
Spent a week on roomster in the LA area. None of the people “listed” ever responded to me. I also hate that they make it easy to forget/difficult to cancel your subscription. Please do not give these people any money!
Have to pay $10 a week when only the major cities have listings! I do have bills to pay on top of saving to move out! I have better things to do than to swipe left for the one listing that pertains to me! My $40 a month looks better in my savings! I don’t like my info and money being scammed. Avoid this horrible service.
I would give it a no star if there’s a option. It’s a scam, you can save bedrooms on there and there are people messaging you but you cannot view the messages unless you buy it for $8.99/week. Thank goodness I didn’t buy the subscription, there’s an entire Facebook group there for roomster app scams and people commented that they’ve been scammed for more than $45/mon. DON’T DOWNLOAD THIS APP IF YOURE LOOKING FOR HOUSING. try Facebook marketplace, Craig’s list, etc
Just signed up today and there are a couple of quirks that are highly annoying. The dates I set for the period the room is available keep changing. It must be some sort of bug, but whenever I open up my listing, the dates have changed! In just a few hours, it’s gotten as far off as two weeks from where I set it to. And the photo cropping is horrible. It completely throws the balance and geometry of your pictures off and makes it quite difficult to frame things nicely for app users.
Please cancel the subscription, this app is doesn’t really help me with what I need.
Spent several days messaging and the only response I got was a bot trying to get me to send money direct.... total scam, in the city of Nashville? No demand? ....please don’t make the mistake I did and use this app
Most of the postings were not straightforward or scams. I understand that’s the nature of the app users. Customer service was laughably unhelpful and rude. Deleted the app, but cancelled my subscription on a web browser before deleting my account, which they claim means they can KEEP charging me weekly. csrep011 was horribly rude and once just responded to me “you’re wrong”. Maybe I was misunderstanding (turns out I wasn’t) but that’s totally inappropriate to tell a customer asking for HELP. The whole company engages in fraudulent business practices and is blatantly unsympathetic about it.
Literally cost about $8 to even use the app for 5 days. Never in a million years would I pay that, plus ur looks sketchy as hell. Don’t download!
Craigslist has the same people and you don’t have to pay to talk to them. I’ve been hunting for apartments/roommates for awhile and decided to give in and pay for a week of Roomster. This would enable me to just get some leads to locations. Cut to, the week passes and I notice they changed me for the next month. I asked for a simple refund and canalization for the mistake. After having quite a bit of push back from their customer service team I realized they did send me a email to cancel my account. I’m shocked since they won’t refund me or cancel my subscription now. This is just one day late. We all get a lot of emails it’s easy to miss a subscription cancel email, you would think that they would understand and notice that the account hasn’t been used and go forward and fencer the account and refund the second charge.
